You can stay at here from November through March for about $50 a night if you are a current or past government employee. I usually stay at the lodge in November and January. But this time during my January stay they put me in a cottage due to the lodge being closed Sunday through Thursday. I had a two-bed cottage with a bath, kitchen, living room/dining and a screened-in patio with table and chairs. Very nice accommodations. There was plenty of parking for my vehicle and my friend's plus his bassboat. The cottage comes equipped so all you need to bring are your personal things and food if you plan to cook. It was clean and I had no complaints. I did eat lunch in the dining room at the lodge before it closed. The food was good and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. I have stayed at a few of our lodges here in Kentucky and I will say that they all rate high on my list. Also, the rate they have during this time of year is cheaper than staying in Murray, KY which is only about 20 minutes away.
Kenlake State Resort Park has a Visit with the Eagles, Friday night had a eagle 101 presentation and Saturday Boat Tours on the CQ Princess interpretive staff from Kentucky Dept of Parks and Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife ending Saturday night with birds of prey with live birds. We stayed in cottage 264. Beds are two full in bedroom, living room dining room and kitchen. Has a screened in porch. Only three small problems: one of the curtains in the living room could not be closed due to it being broken and almost out of the wall, the screen porch had a screen door that was ripped and the bathroom needed a serious bleaching due to mold. If those items would be taken care of not to bad. Cottages ran us just under $170 for two nights. Had 1980's TV in living room and bedroom about a 20 inch or smaller, but had cable. The only negative for the boat tour were the rude people who would stand in front of you so you could not see. They had advertised coffee, coco and cookies, only had coffee. If you go top floor seating a MUST. We were told boarding would be at 730am, we got there at 725 and boat was almost full. DO NOT sit on right side of boat at table next to door, people constantly going in and out and tend to stand right in front of your view. Boat tour a little pricy at $50 each BUT you are 3 full hours on lake.
