I could just write DITTO to the previous review - We were in Livingston this past Saturday (Feb. 7, 2015) to visit our son and daughter in law. We planned to have a drink with pizza from Gil's - my husband stopped to chat with someone at the bar while my son, his wife and I went to find seats in another section. Like the previous reviewer, my daughter in law and I went up to the bar to order drinks - there were quite a few people sitting at the bar so we patiently waited for the bartender (not sure if it was Mike - but if not, it must have been his twin) as he circled by waiting on other people. In fact, he served my husband on the other side of the bar! When he finally came to us(10 minutes later) we asked if we could see a menu to order some appetizers - he informed us it would take a long time to get those and then asked where we were seated. After I pointed to a table 4 feet away he said a barmaid would serve us - not him! This after 10 minutes of waiting at the bar - shortly after, my husband arrived drink in hand - so I went to the bar and asked since my husband had ordered 2 high priced drinks from him why couldn't he accommodate us - rudely he said he didn't know we were together. Well, after my husband gave the bartender his opinion of the service we left. I seriously have never been treated that way by a server - amazing. My son and his wife have frequented the Murray Bar and Gil's often - I think they lost 2 good customers. I cannot speak for the hotel.

I took my wife back to Livingston, Montana where she went to high school. It was her 50th birthday on May 10 so it was going to be a very special weekend for us. We stayed at the Murray Hotel, which is NOT associated with the Murray Bar (except in name only). The Murray Bar is located at the end of the same building so we wanted to have an adult beverage before going to the Murray restaurant. My wife went into the bar, sat up at the bar rather than a table, to help out the bartender. There were only 3 other people at the bar, which circles the bartender's station. My wife and I waited patiently, for 3 minutes, for 5 minutes, for 10 minutes and then at about 15 minutes, we got up and left. The bartender had circled by us at least 4 times, never making eye contact or asking for our order or even acknowledging us and saying that he would be with us in a few. He only served 3 drinks in those 15 minutes. At Minute 13, two people walked into the bar, about 7 feet away from us, and said "Hey Mike" and the bartender was over talking to those two in about 7 seconds. Again, when "Mike" finished talking to those two, who were only standing and did not order any drinks, at minute 14, Mike walked past us still sitting at the bar. Again, no acknowledgement or asking us for our order.Do NOT go to this bar or give them any business. I have no idea who Mike is, was, or was trying to be. He certainly did not do his bartending duties. We will never go there again and we will be sure to let everyone know what happened. When we checked out of the Murray Hotel on Sunday morning (Mother's Day) we told the hotel clerks what had happened and they were very quick to point out that the Murray Bar was owned by someone else and was NOT associated with the Murray Hotel. The Murray Hotel was a great place to stay but we walked several blocks in the freezing snow and rain to the Stockman Bar and Restaurant where they treated us like old welcome friends.
