A perfect stop when in the area. The loop trail is short and easy, numerous magnificent views of massive cedars(there are longer trails that continue from the loop-the signs are good); photo ops at every bend.The road is well-maintained in the summer; in winter the last section is gated off for cross country skiing or snowshoeing up to the cedars for a nice invigorating addition.

I was fortunate enough to accidentally stumble on this wonderful site and was completely swept away by the incredible majesty of the forest of trees. The trail is one mile, all flat and an easy, informative and interesting stroll. I walk with a cane and was able to breeze through the entire loop. The ancient trees are amazing by themselves but the multi-layered Eco-systems that thrive here are incredible to witness. This is a must see if you are traveling through this area.

I never even realized that NW Montana had trees to rival the great California parks... the Ross Creek Cedars area is absolutely impressive! Lots of excellent photo opportunities... especially along the creek bed. The road is fine all summer long, I have to go back for all the photos I mssed.

It was great to see the huge cedar trees & environment that gies with this. Nice paths, signage. Easy walking.

Following the road less traveled on the way to the Yaak river country. This was one of our original destinations for our Labor Day trip. Beautiful large cedars (ok, we're used to 18" Lodgepole pine in our neck of the woods) in a moist and shaded environment. Good information plaques about the life in a cedar forest. Path through the cedars is mostly flat and suitable for almost anyone.

This was a great side trip to an out of the way place but well worth the time spent. Well preserved old growth cedar forest with giant tress you would normally see only on the west coast. Nice interpretive trail but could use better signage.

This is a must stop when in the area. Nice walking paths for every fitness level and absolutely stellar beauty here.

Our kids are 4,6,&7 and they had a blast!!! We decided to let our kids play and climb around and spent almost 2 hours there--although you could do it in way less time. TOTALLY worth the trip. When you drive in though- it looks like a one lane/one way road...but it's NOT! So be careful!! Our kids are older, but you could totally take a stroller through here too!!

The Ross Creek Cedar Grove is a must see if you are going to be in Troy or Libby MT. Easy to find, off Bull Lake Road, well marked, it is a pretty drive with good parking. A stand of old growth cedar trees, the one mile walk is easy with benches available along the way. I took my elderly mother there, and she had no trouble completing the walk. It is peaceful and very beautiful, with excellent informational signage along the way. Everyone from children to seniors will enjoy this scenic area.

We visited Ross Creek Cedar Grove on a beautiful fall afternoon. It is absolutely beautiful and well worth the drive. The scents from the woods and the sunshine streaming in between the trees is simply surreal. The trees in the grove are huge and the pathways are well kept. It is very peaceful and not to be missed if visiting the area.

You don't expect to see a small rain forest in Montana but here it is. With REALLY large climax growth Cedar trees. Just a little drive off the main road, well worth it.

We really enjoyed the Ross Creek Cedar Grove and would highly recommend that anyone in the area visit. Very beautiful area.

I imagine they are bigger in California, but these are the biggest ones we've seen. The trail is perfect for all fitness levels. Plenty of photo ops with double and triple trunked trees. After the hike we ate lunch next to the creek and waded in the cold-water.

Huge cedars preserved and standing off the road bit but a Must See!! O have been here 4 or 5 times with out of owners and they have truly enjoyed this short nature trail and preserve!!

What a cool place for pictures! We took our 1 year old son and he had a great time running around and exploring the giant cedars. The trail is relatively short (1 mile roundtrip) and flat. I You could explore a bit further out if you wanted, or if you're driving a long way to do this hike, maybe couple it with something in Sandpoint or Hope, or the surrounding area. I'll bet with the right trailmap you could get to Ross Creek Falls. The drive up was completely paved and the road was well maintained. There are picnic tables if you want to bring lunch, and there are educational signs throughout. The only downsides are 1) the bullet holes in the first sign right off the parking lot (not a great welcome), and 2) the pit toilets were disgusting and full of wasps so I held it until we drove back through Sandpoint.
