great northern rafting

I took the half-day trip with my wife and our two teenagers at the beginning of August. We had a great time, and the guide, Charlie, was very entertaining as well as very knowledgeable about navigating through some intense rapids and also about the nature in the area. We can't wait to come back up to West Glacier and we definitely would choose Great Northern again for a raft trip.

My family and I enjoyed this half-day trip very much. It was late August, so we had a lot of rocks with which to contend. Our guide, Robbie, was very professional and helped us avoid most collisions. He was a lot of fun and knowledgeable about the area. Our river-side dinner was delicious and very filling. I would recommend this rafting experience to anyone. This was class II-III.

Great Northern is one of about 4 rafting guide companies around West Glacier. The guides on our trip were cordial, knowledgeable, and careful. I was impressed with their knowledge of the river and of GNP. I would definitely use them again.

My family and I had a great time. We were fortunate for a sunny, warm day. Our guide had a great personality and seemed to know what he was doing. No one fell out of the raft, so I was thankful for that. This was our first time. I would recommend this.

My wife and I took in the full day fly fishing trip. We had never fly fished before. Kevin and Josh are not just guides they have a passion for fishing and the great outdoors. With their guidance it was pretty easy to have a good a time. The lunch they served was amazing and allot more than we anticipated. The was a full day of rafting down the river, enjoying the sights and at the same time catching Cut Throat trout. Truly the highlight of our trip and well worth the price of admission. I could not have had a better first time white water rafting experience! It was filled with beautiful scenery with the mountains and wild life surrounding us during our 2 1/2 hour trip. It was truly an exhilarating experience that blew me away and got my heart pumping. Calm river areas were present in between, so you had the opportunity to relax and enjoy between the white water splashes. Besides the beautiful surroundings, our guide- Carl made the trip to an excellent experience with his calm and professional attitude, and he had great knowledge about the nature and wildlife that surrounded us. If you are looking for something fun and exciting to do outdoors while also enjoying the amazing nature of Glacier National Park, you, your friends and family should definitely try Great Northern Rafting. My first white-water rafting trip was with Great Northern Rafting. We took an afternoon trip and were EXTREMELY satisfied. We felt totally safe all the time, and were able to "participate", by paddling as directed by our guide. He also explained rafting and river safety and during the calm streaches he told us about the geology, history, and natural history of Glacier National Park and the Middle Fork of the Flathead River. In these calm streaches, we also saw bald eagles (3) and a doe with her spotted fawn. The rapids were exciting and really fun (especially as we became more confident). The scenery is beautiful. I highly recommend white-water rafting when visiting Glacier and I cannot imagine that anyone could do better than Great Northern Rafting. I have given them the highest rating, because I was 100% satisfied (also with the price).

I am very happy to have my first white water rafting experience with great northern rafting. They were incredibly accommodating and politely instructive. I was with a party of 5, four of whom have not been before and everyone had a fun and safe time. Carl was our guide and he was extremely knowledgeable about the surrounding wilderness and navigated the river with great precision. I never felt unsafe and of course, no one fell from the raft. The route itself was both breathingtakingly scenic and fun in the Rapids. The river has slower flow during this time of the year but it was perfect for us first timers. Highly recommended. We took our 4 kids on an afternoon and shore dinner rafting tour. After a few hours of rafting, we pulled over and our guide cooked us dinner on the shore. All the dishes were prepared ahead of time and then steaks, chicken and bison burgers were grilled. The food was a little fancier then we expected and absolutely amazing! Meg is the chef who prepares and packages it all up ahead of time. We were so pleasantly surprised, weren't really sure what to expect. Our guide, Joe, did a wonderful job grilling each steak to prefection. It was delicious! Wonderful staff made it fun and exciting for us all! Highly recommend.

I am from Mississippi and came up for my nephews wedding. While up in Montana I knew I had to experience the white water rafting. I looked at several brochures trying to make a decision and finally settled on Great Northern. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted and assisted by friendly and helpful staff. The rafting guide was funny and very knowledgable. Some of the rapids were pretty intense but he kept us safe and sound throughout the trip. Definitely a great time and hope to book a fishing trip through them on our next trip.

The Middle Fork of the Flathead is a free flowing river, so not dam controlled (designated wild and scenic) and a family friendly one at that. In May and June we experience the Spring run off as the snow melts in the mountains. At that time of year the river is muddy, fast and there are really fun waves all the way down. However, for safety reasons we can only take older kids and adults down the river. On the other hand, in July and August the river levels slowly decrease and although the rapids can sometimes be more intense than in the Spring, the river slows down and becomes a beautiful emerald green color in between rapid sections. Our raft guides are highly trained and their main priority is to keep their customers in their boats. For those who want a greater thrill, we do offer a sport boat option (smaller boat, more movement through rapids) and inflatable kayaks. In inflatable kayaks specially, you will be able to enjoy a much more intense ride in a smaller craft, much closer to the water. A lot of our customers are families with young children who usually choose to go in a regular raft. They will get fun splashes all the way down the whitewater section, but it is not too extreme that they are not allowed to go. Our staff makes every effort to explain that the Middle Fork of the Flathead river is a class II-III rafting run and not an extreme whitewater run. We hope you will give us the opportunity to take you down the Middle Fork on an exciting inflatable kayak trip, maybe your wife will be happy to do that with you since she has already gone down that stretch in a raft! What a great place. This definitely helped to make my West Glacier Experience that much more special. I went white water rafting and the river was a blast. The staff was great and the raft guide was so fun. I will definitely be rafting with them the next time I am in West Glacier!

Went on all day trip with "Korp". Not ever having been white water rafting and not a strong swimmer, I was concerned. Korp promised i would not be throne out of the boat and he kept his promise. The guides said that the water was perfect. I laughed all thru the rapid section!

We went on an afternoon trip last week and had Robbie as our guide. We had a fabulous time. The rapids were just enough to be fun, but not too scary. My kids, ages 10 and 8, loved it. I would put this high on your list of things to do when visiting Glacier.
