I attended one of the adults-only swim nights that Splash Montana puts on, and I think the concept is a great idea. But they still get a 1-star review. Firstly, because I was told to lay down when going down the slides. I was a bit afraid, or nervous, (whatever you want to call it,) and so I sat up near the end of the ride, and everything was fine and fun. But after a few rides down the slides, I lost my fear, and lay down for the entire ride. I don't know if they revved up the slides for adults, or if it's always like this, but that slide spit me out so fast and hard that I skidded along the cement bottom of the pool and got scrapes up and down my spine. It happened in a matter of seconds, but one could see that the scrapes nearer the top of my spine weren't as deep, since I began to sit up as soon as I felt pain, while the scrapes towards the the base were deeper and bloodier. I'm of a healthy weight, with no excess fat on my back, and the skin covering each of my vertebrae was scraped off. It hurt bad enough to ruin my fun, but I'm only writing now because it's been several months and the scars from the worst scrapes haven't gone away. I really think a hospital visit would have been overkill; they're just scrapes, after all. But in hindsight, I kind of wish I had gone to a doctor, just so I wouldn't have the scars now. Anyway, that's besides the point. The second reason for the low rating is that this place has a re-entry fee. It's just $1, but come on. If you forget something in your car, or want to take something out to your car to lock up, or leave and forget something at the pool, you have to pay an extra $1 to come and go? What if you bike, and you see some kid loitering around the bike rack, tinkering, and you want to walk by and discreetly check that nothing funny is happening? The reason doesn't matter, step a toe outside and it'll cost you to get back in. Let's hope you didn't leave your purse in your locker, it'll cost you (and be out of reach)! This is not standard practice. Go ahead and google it. The employees do zero extra work for a guest's coming and going through the turnstile, and the ink from the stamp to allow you re-entry costs less than a penny. This won't be an issue for me- I'll make sure I never forget anything, and I go rarely now anyways- but I sure won't recommend Splash Montana because this smacks of "nickel-and-diming". If anyone can think up a legitimate reason for this ridiculous fee, I'd love to hear it.
Great place to cool your jets for the day or just a few hours amid a hectic day. Pools are always fun though usually crowded unless you are there at the end of the day (best time in my opinion). They serve a variety of food and snacks at decent prices. Staff are high school age and somewhat snappy, could probably work harder to keep the locker rooms cleaner. Some effort
Reasonably price, even for non residence visitors. The park is well kept and fun for the entire family. Water slides, lazy river and lap pools.
This is a great place for kids on a hot day. We've been here several times, and the kids always have fun. I also like the many places to sit, and the lazy river.
Always fun to go on the slides and different things to play on. Food is good, but a little pricey. Great place to spend a hot summer day!
Great fun for our family of five! Under $25 to get us all in. I personally enjoyed the lazy river. I got comfy in an inner tube and probably floated it 10 or more times just relaxing. My kids loved the slides. They have been on more adventurous ones at other parks but for the money it was a great day!
We took a group of kids here and received inaccurate info the first time that we called for information, thank goodness we called to verify the opening time. The locker room situation is not ideal in that it was not easy to keep eyes on the kids (and it was a small group). The kids loved the pool - the lifeguards need some better training on how to communicate with small children to help them to understand why they are getting a whistle blown at them and are being screamed at.One you entered the pool area, it was not possible to leave to get something from the vending machine unless you want to sneak around.Overall a good but not great experience.
Traveled from out of state to visit family. Just paid cash for 2 adults and 3kids when a lightening strike happened. No refunds or passes. No Food station either. Staff was very rude! We waited almost 30 minutes and another hit. Reset 30 minutes. Again no refunds or passes. They close in one hour! We can now leave and come back in 30 minutes. This is ridiculous! They swam for about 30 minutes after we came back! Terrible customer service! There are other swimming places in the area which I would greatly encourage!
Wonderful little water park. Love the Olympic size pool for swimming. And, of course, our 5 children love the lazy river, water slides, and pools.
We were looking for a way to cool down in the heat and came across Splash Montana. For $6, we were able to have access to water slides (3 of them), a lazy river and there was a large kid's pool. There was also a food stand which had surprisingly good food for a public pool. We were happy to have found this place.Warning: it says it's open at 10am but the public cannot access pools until 11:30am!
Splash is always a blast, however it gets really crowded and I feel like there are not enough lifeguards for the sheer amount of people here at times.
We came all the way from Bozeman just to go here. And it was worth it. The prices were great. and the slides were so much fun.
We visited Splash this year in Aug 2013 on Saturday. The gates opened at 11:30 a.m., which to me was perfect as we are nearly an hour drive away (North of Missoula). The kiddos loved this environment and it is very kid friendly, in fact I have a 3, 5 and 7 year old and this park is perfect for them. There is a wading pool and the tempature of the water is perfect! Alot of parents and grandparents are often seen in the wading pool with their little ones. My 3 and 5 year old loved it, and loved the splashes that came out of the ground and the snake that they were able to ride on, and the slide was a perfect size for them. My 7 year old and his friends were in the River float (they can all swim), there is also 3 slides in which you can slide down by yourself or with a tube. You have to be 48" to slide though, so make sure your little ones are aware of this. My son who is much shorter than his peers wasn't able to ride, but he still enjoyed himself. Hopefully next year he'll have grown a few more inches . The price is perfect. Kids are around 4 dollars while adults are around 5 dollars. Perfect for our tight budget. We brought our own food and snacks as we heard the prices of food was a little out of range. The kids enjoyed having our own picnic with healthy snacks. If your traveling to Missoula in the summer, be sure to visit Splash Montana with your kiddos. If your kiddos are older teens, they will also most likely enjoy this place, but they would probably enjoy and actual River Float which is also offered in Missoula!!!
We had a wonderful time here while on vacation. The price to swim for all day is around $5.00. Waterslides, lazy river, big pool and awesome snack bar. Very clean and well maintained.
Great way to spend the day. Like most summer time places like this, the weekends are very busy. Best to come on a weekday when it is not quite as busy. Food is expensive, so we try to bring are own food when we do come.
