Had a great time at my last visit to Hollywood Casino. They had many new games and even though I didn't come out a big winner, I enjoyed the time I spent there. Would go back again.
I've been to many Indian reservation casinos in Arizona and one in California. This place blew them all out of the water (I'm assuming it is a reservation casino.) For starters, it's huge. There are lots of gaming tables, including Craps, Blackjack, Roulette, and several other card games. The lunch buffet was also impressive for $14. They also seem to attract some big names for entertainment. Ron White is coming in April. I'll be back!
good for gambling good for all except handicapped whom cannot walk=electric wheel chairs needed here
Restaurants are closed most of the time, can't get a drink at a slot, drink size limit in restuarants
The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Even though Lady Luck was not with me I will try again!
Very clean, comfortable anc convenient. Shuttle directly to the Casino every 20 minutes. The staff is great. We followed mapquest the first time we went and it took 2 hours. Th folks at the desk quickly ggave me a new route that choppeed over an hour off and kept us out of DC traffic. Not to mention a good casino and racetrack. Breakfast at the hotel needs improvement but, can't be perfect.
My husband and I have been to the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town twice now. Both times were pleasurable experiences for the most part. The casino allows smoking and there are some designated areas that are non-smoking, but unfortunately the smoke smell is still there. We prefer the nonsmoking casinos. But given that, this casino is very well laid out, doesn't have that cramped feeling that some do. There are lots of our favorite slots there. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. We enjoyed being able to get our own free soft drinks at the self-serve station that they have there. It is usually very crowded. Parking is good and well lit. Overall we would recommend this casino if you do not mind the smoke smell too much. We will probably return again in the future.
My husband and I do not gamble so there was nothing really to do there. The horses were not running that day due to cold weather so we missed seeing that excitement. There is a great Cafe in the middle of the food court with delicious cakes and pastries. I wish they had more shops, a movie theater and some other activities to do there for those of us who don't gamble.
This is a nice sized casino and seems to have a decent pay out level. We have one a few times and we always see folks throughout the night celebrating there winnings. The have smoking and non-smoking areas and the bathrooms are well kept. We have been to several casinos in the area but this one remains our favorite.
My husband and I go to Charlestown about once a month. He plays blackjack and I play the slots. THE SLOTS DO NOT PAY! I lost $60 in less than 20 minutes. Stick with the table games. We were at the casino less than an hour and he won $250 on blackjack. He started with $500. We left with $750.We decided to leave while we were ahead. Knowing Basic strategy and discipline on blackjack is a must! The pit boss followed my husband when he got up from the table and started heading for the door. They hate it when you leave with money.
Great casino...lots of machines and tables, self service soda machines and lots of restaurants on premise. As a non smoker, the casino REALLY needs more non smoking areas, they were almost non existent...even the staff didn't know where the "non smoking" areas were located. I just happened to walk up on small areas with signs, go figure. Other than the smoking issue, I had a great time!
For a non-smoker the smell is overwhelming and unpleasant. We don't plan on going back unless any friends insist on meeting there.
Looks "shop worn". Used to be well maintained, fresh and new...now it just looks and feels like no one cares anymore. Very sad and a waste of time.
All of the food I've ordered at Skybox has been great. Add-in fantastic service from Amanda the early-week bartender, and Boddington's on tap, and you're set to have a great evening out.
Having been to the casino a number of times in the past, I found what I perceived to be a number of changes this trip. Being a non-smoker, I looked for the smoke free area that I had played in on past trips but could not find it. It appears that more and more area has been devoted to the smoking crowd..In addition, more of the slots have been upgraded to electronic machines advertised as penny machines but if you look more closely, you realize that the minimum play is either 30,40 or 50 cents. Hits me as deceptive advertising.
