pricketts fort state park

I loved the people whom were in characters, the only thing I disliked was it was pouring rain the day I visited and it was hard to hear but it wasn't the State Park's fault. I plan on visiting with my students soon.

Very, Very Beautiful Landscape! I went there last year, and they are and Excellent Place for either Beauty or Means of Learning .Very Educational! For a History Fan like me, I would Definitelyrecommend. Anyone can come for any reason they want. They'd Accept any age, any person, whose interested in seeing this Beautiful Piece of History.

This is a great historic site that the kids can learn and run around and have a great time. The rails to trail is also right there and biked them for hours. The fort is so interesting and real. We love this place.

Wonderful stop to step back in time. Very interesting fort, great tour inside. Interesting grounds and buildings . Not an entire day trip but a very nice stop out of your day. To be fair, we went in April so it was off season but we still enjoyed our visit very much and will return again.

This state run park is right down the road from where I live. The fort is a replica of its previous structure. The staff is dressed in period clothing and work old time tools to cook and perform maintenance tasks. They raise animals and farm in typical fashion of the time. They are a very well trained and informed staff of both paid and volunteer personnel. They are enthusiastic and entertaining educators who bring to life the frontier experience. There is a great little museum, a blacksmith shop a period homestead, as well as an American Indian Tent on the property. Throughout the year they hold many special programs, such as civil war reenactments, flint gun lessons, backstabbing classes, along with plays and concerts.

This is a wonderful living museum with so much history. The fort is one of the forts along the Ohio Valley during the French and Indian War. The park guides are informative and helpful. Excellent place to visit

Prickett' Fort sets on the banks of the Monogehela River. There is a book store and museum. Come see the reconstructed fort and the various re-enactors as the go about the daily life as it was in the late 1700 when this area was the American frontier.

This looks like a great place for biking. The trail that leads from the fort down along the river looked like a great place for kids. We went for hiking expecting some good trails, but the park attendant only told us about the bike paths. We asked for a map of any trails and all they had was a map of the Northeast WV bike path system. We checked out the fort, but it didn't look worthy of the $8 admission.

There is plenty to do here... There is a fort that has live demo's of the daily life of the early settlers. There is a beautiful river that you can bring your boat to for fishing, water ski, or just to explore. Bring your bike the Rail to Trails is a fun time too! The park is FREE...but there is an entrance fee to enter the fort.

We really enjoyed the informative presentation of the employees here. They are very well educated people and have a lot of knowledge about living back in the 1700s as well as the property and the history of it. There's a river running behind the fort that you can feed geese, fly a kite or just sit on the benches and relax, its very beautiful. We went to another place similar to this one and was extremely let down, especially after going to Pricketts. This is well worth the visit and every penny. Definitely a must see.

Nice place to stop off and tour. Friendly people and easy tour at your own pace. A step back in time. Would be nice to see in summer when weaving is happening and local events are scheduled. A nice place to take a family to walk around and enjoy part of a day. Interesting young lady tells about the rooms and how people gathered back then. Very informative. Fun visit!

This is a nice stop for a family or for people passing through who can take a few hours to appreciate the work the people here are doing. I hadn't intended to stay longer than a half an hour, but I did get interested in watching the blacksmith work and seeing an authentic old timey loom operated. It's neat and there's a big restored fort to take pictures of.

We went to Pricketts Fort for the Harvest Festival. They had demonstrations on how to make beer, jerky and candles, putting up produce, gardening, and a blacksmithing. The staff were in period costume and were very informative and friendly. The individual cabins were decorated with period clothing and furniture, and showed different roles of the inhabitants of the fort. There is an entrance fee of $8 per person, with a discount for seniors and youth. Accessibility could be an issue for handicapped or elderly individuals, as there is open grassy space between buildings. When we visited, there was no food or drink available for purchase, so eat before you go. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and plan to go again for other festivals and events.

easy to find and staff had a lot of information, all staff very easy to talk to.great for kids also.

Good example of pioneer life in WV. They often have interesting demonstrations. Staff is informative and pleasant. A nice place to visit with children.
