I dont gamble..actually when I go and lose 20 bucks. its over for me.I do like watching people and this is the place to do it. It is quite hysterical :) They have excellent food and decent drinks. Its a fun night out for a change.
I'll get to the food part in a minute. This place was once an enjoyable visit. Used to have lots of friendly employees. Wife and I stopped there. We usually drop a hundred or two gambling and view it as entertainment. This time, we lost twenty dollars. Few blackjack tables were open on a Saturday night. So, we tried to play blackjack slots. Neither machine worked. Before all this, we went to First Turn restaurant. A guy named Nick waited on us brought us our drinks. We ordered and he ran out of the restaurant and said "I'm out of here." After twenty plus minutes, wife asked another waitress where our food was? She said about ten minutes. It finally came and I got a raw steak, fries, and no salad I ordered. Wife got a dried up french dip sandwich. We could only eat a small portion of our dinner. No server ever came back or brought a check. So, I threw $25 dollars down and we walked out. Bottom line, Mardi Gras has declined sharply in the last two years. Unfriendly staff, not very clean, and lousy food. Who ever the manager is of this place, should not be! Avoid.
The food is average at best and the service is always slow. Be prepared attach a tracking device to your server so you can ask your server for refills and what the delay in getting food and drinks. Otherwise the racing action is great.
Great place to spend a weekend. You can play slot machines and watch greyhound racing. Also there is table games. The food at the French Quarter is excellent.
I had fun watching the dog races. They are exiting if you bet on a winner. Unfortunalty every dog i picked ended up in last place. I guess i need to do more research when it comes to dog racing. i did have fun though.
This was a lot of fun, except when the dogs lost their tracking in the sand. Was exciting to bet even though i only won a few times and ended up getting in trouble for taking pictures of the dogs bc it's against the law.
Nice people and friendly atmosphere. We had a very good time and we don't really gamble. We found the food prices and drink prices to be very good.
We had a great time at the Mardi Gras Casino and Dog track! Saw one dog race, shared a nice steak, and won a little money in the casino. I had never stopped at this location before, so I was very pleased to find "civilization" in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. Folks at the casino were very nice, and it was surprisingly busy on a Thursday night. We'll be back! For sure!
Friendly staff! An awesome place to watch UFC fights! $10 person includes fights and buffet. Good place to get together with friends and enjoy the fights.
This casino is well maintained and managed - like any other casino, you lose more than you win, but we always have a good time there.
This was my 2nd trip to Mardi Gras. The machines are really tight. The Greyhound racing is exciting. The staff isnt overly friendly and can't/ wont answer the simplest of questions. Christine, who works at the Players Club, was very friendly and personable! She seems to really enjoy her job. Mardi Gras is a great place to visit for a quick getaway if your primary interest is on having a good time with family/friends and not WINNING $$$$.
everything from room charge to talking with mark the supervisor.do not stay at all,i rented a 99.00 room and got charged 325.00 and they wont give me my money back
Machines are tight. Ive been to Vegas and Detroit and these machines are ridiculous. You never see any bells going off where people have hit anything big. Machines are kinda generic and not taken care of. You run yourself to death to cashout a ticket or go to restroom. No smoking due to County law, so not fun going outside to smoke.
15.95 and the food was all fresh with a HUGE variety. Make sure you try the fresh desserts, you will be impressed!
Important FYI, this track is listed as Tri State on the machines, NOT Mardi Gras! It would be nice if they would put signs on the machines. I spent 6 races betting the wrong track and rooting for dogs I didn't even bet. To top it off I didn't find out until I finally hit a winner ($70 ticket) and couldn't cash the ticket because I was betting the wrong track. Now this story would have a good ending if somehow the dogs I was actually betting (that were running in Jacksonville, FL) won, but no cigar. Oh well, live and learn. P.S. Thank goodness the buffet was only $15 bucks, it would have been a big disappointment if I paid any more than that.
