Not sure why this is a subject on a travel site but this is a very old cemetery with many popular burials including politicians. My mother and father-in-law are both buried here. The cemetery overlooks the WV Power Baseball park. Not I am interested in site seeing a cemetery, however I stress safety - this is not a safe area of Charleston. Go in the daylight only.
We enjoy old cemeteries, so a trip through Spring Hill Cemetery wasn't an unusual destination while visiting Charleston. This cemetery is so interesting since its many acres sit on a hillside and is sectioned off by old cement remnants. We feel sorry for the caretakers and mowers. The headstones range from old to new, including some from the Civil War, both Union and Confederate. Driving or walking through is a challenge worth taking for marvelous views of the city, and the entire place is quiet enough for contemplation.
