For many years putting WV on the map with a wonderful sampling of nationally and internationally touring musicians and bands in wonderful venues, at a family friendly and reasonable price.
The latest Mountain Stage was like a Sunday at Church. Every performer started or ended with Christian praise, even a jab at Buddhism from two performers. I came for music, not to be "saved". Mix it up a bit please.
I don't get to go often enough but when I do I totally enjoy Mountain Stage. The entertainment is always first class and makes for a great evening of music.
What a treat. You can't find a better live performance ANYWHERE in West Virginia. If you're a fan of live music and want great seats, visit the Mountain Stage!Where else can you sit three rows away from awesome artists like Rodney Crowell and Tim O'brien or groups like Elephant Revival, Tattletale Saints, The Sea The Sea, and the Infamous String Dusters? I literally could have spit on any of those artists boots from where we were sitting.Tickets are the best priced live venue I've ever seen. $15.00 for a great show. Those musicians played nearly two and a half hours! Even better, we had an opportunity to meet and greet the majority of them at the end of the show, in the lobby of the theater! How often does that happen?I can't go on enough about the wonderful time I had at the Mountain Stage. If you ever get a chance to go... go! Order your tickets online through their website - otherwise the tickets are $25.00 at the door.THIS SHOW IS PURE WEST VIRGINIA GOLD. IT IS A TREASURE TO BE SHARED!
Mountain Stage is WV's treasure! Mountain Stage has brought to the mountain state so many great musical acts over the years. It is an affordable night of wonderful music.
Mountain Stage is one of those wonderful institutions where you get to see some great performers in a really fun atmosphere. The only disappointing thing about the shows is that if you're there to see a favorite artist, the set will be too short. At the same time, when there is someone you don't much care for on stage, you won't have long to wait before someone you like better comes on. Don't miss this - if you live in or near Charleston you should be there every month! If not, it is worth it to make the trip.
Mountain Stage is definitely a jewel in WV's crown. You can't find a better deal - the tickets are inexpensive, and you will definitely hear someone in the lineup that is worth way more than the price of admission. No matter who the headliners are, there are always more guests there who are equally impressive, if not more so. I've gone to hear bigger names like Todd Snider & Mary Chapin Carpenter & Dar Williams, only to come away in love with a local group. There is a lot of music packed into the 2 1/2 - 3 hrs you'll be there - it's edited down for the radio show, so the live performance is definitely worth going to.
Mountain Stage is a must do if you are here when they are performing! I've never been disappointed. Usually, there are about 4 or 5 guest bands or artists who put on about a 15 to 10 minute concert per artist. The Mountain Stage band itself is amazing. The only drawback is that the Cultural Center Theatre seats about 700 people and often, tickets are sold out. If you do get tickets, seats aren't assigned so try to get there at least 1/2 hour early.
Mountain Stage is so much fun. The musical acts are varied - some mainstream and others alternative or up and coming. Just to see the way a radio show is produced is worth the price of admission. If you get a chance, I'd recommend trying a show. I enjoy it everytime I go whether I'm familiar with the music acts or not.
Mountain Stage is part of West Virginia Public Broadcasting,We have been to Mountain Stage numerous times and every time we have went we had a great time. An eclectic mix of music and talents. From Jessie Winchester, Nellie Mckay, to Zee Avi and more. Larry Groce is a wonderful MC. I think people visiting Charleston, Wv would be surprised to see how great a show the could see in such and intimate setting, definitely worth checking out. This is more of an adult environment unless the entertainment is billed to be otherwise do to the fact that they do record some of these shows for radio and other media purposes.
