They stopped doing the Regatta, which is very sad, but Charleston still manages to have 3 or 4 big festivals along the river every year, and music at the new amphitheater they added a few years ago. Visits my historic boats, WWI era boats, local and nationally touring musicians, political rallies, make this a happening place. Despite the events that do go on, being a Charleston resident again one can't help but to think they could do so much more with this facility, as it's vacant so much through the year. It's a nice place to just grab a picnic lunch and just go sit and eat as well, and walk your lunch off along the Kanawha Blvd trail or sidewalks enjoying more of the lovely homes and views along the river. Perfect for folks staying at the Sheraton Four Points to just walk across the street and enjoy the river atmosphere.
This is a beautiful setting. Gorgeous scenery. I loved it when they had the Stern Wheel Regatta! I miss that festival. It used to be so much fun. I'm not sure why they quit having it?? Im not real sure what all they do now at the park but would be a wonderful setting for a wedding.
We were fortunate enough to be there for one of their free concerts. Street block closed so vendors could set up. Great evening to be outdoors!
A nice place to walk and see the river. The free Friday night entertainment brought out the crowds and food vendors. A fun place to be.
They have free concerts every Friday Night from May - August. I was staying in the hotel across the street and caught part of the festivities. It appears they have a lot of different venues throughout the year.
Randomly in Charleston for July 4, and we saw that Live on the Levee was happening. Very cool amphitheater right on the river with some decent cover bands. Plenty of food trucks and beer sales at reasonable prices. Fireworks were great as well. We even enjoyed strolling through the park the next morning and enjoyed lounging in the amphitheater and watching the traffic on the river. A great place to visit!
Went there for the doo wop car show. The Diamonds played on the stage and the sound quality was excellent. Comfortable seating and a great view of the river and boats.
Friday nights at the Levy are a lot of fun! Good music, decent food and its all on the river front! I would recommend that everyone at least check it out.
Numerous venues are held at the levy but Friday nights during the summer are special as there are great free music events. This has grown over the last few years thanks to generous sponsors so that quality acts preform for family friendly crowds. It;s a lot of fun whether you are on the land or docked with your boat at the new facilities.Fireworks on the 4th and memorial days.
My husband & I attended Live On The Levee on July 12th to see Kris Allen. Even though the weather played a part in the night and everything was a wash-out... The park is beautiful, the view is wonderful!
every Friday night and it is all free several vendors and night clubs on Capiotl and Virginia street..a great way to spend the evening
whats the deal any other river front in a river city welcomes boaters in Charleston you have to jump through hoops to get power for your boat seems like they would more to accommodate boaters. it is such a nice riverfront its a shame they treat you like that
Great place to listen to live music on a Friday night. They close the street section off for vendors to set up. It can be relaxing to watch the boats on the water as well. It could use more covered seating. Also, the stage area has a path on both ends of the stage. The pathways are so run down. They need to be widened and paved. No boat rides for the public. So much missed potential here!
In the summer months they have Live at the Levee on Friday nights and the music is AWESOME! It is a great time for everyone! Bring the kids, they will love to dance, too.
The park is really just a small ampitheatre-like concrete step/seat structure on the river. It's a nice setting for a concert, but otherwise it's not really worth visiting.
