First & foremost, the model train exhibit is worth the price of admission ($16 for 2 adults 2 children.) It's is the highlight of the museum. This place is severely underfunded, so much so that it makes me appreciate more the time & money that goes into my local children's museum. The businesses in Alexandria need to step up their donation game. All in all, my children enjoyed themselves, but temper your expectations.
I love the Tree House, they don't have the funding that they deserve. I had the opportunity to visit during a slow day and it was still full of children. They have lost of educational events, and they have an amazing train set up! The admission is cheap, and the staff is very nice. They have an exhibit with live frogs, the kids love it! The Tree house also works with local home school groups. Some times they have nights where they do watch the children while the parents are gone, for several hours. That is the only time the staff should have to watch your children. Believe it or not, the staff does have other work to do when they are not giving tours. I have noticed that the parents do not watch their children. The unsupervised children are left to nearly ruin exhibits. Watch your kids while you visit please. If you have a child under the age of 10 I highly suggest taking a visit. Just a friendly reminder: THE STAFF ARE NOT YOUR BABYSITTERS!
Not much here at all. We could do better Alexandria. Kids love it though and I guess that's what counts. This place could use some help seriously from our city.
Want to escape the Louisiana heat or just spend a fun afternoon with the kids? Then check out this gem for central Louisiana. Among the things your little ones might enjoy are the model train that zig zags around the town, a kitchen where the kids can play dress-up and a place where you can make a mold of yourself against some pins.
We were here for a birthday party and I had my sons bday party here last year. For both occasions I found that the staff was minimally interested in interacting with the children but stayed in the gift shop/office most of the time. The activity they provided for the children was not stimulating at all for them and the children became bored quickly. Don't expect a chuck e cheese type environment but even chuck e cheeses staff appear to be interested in the children!
I went to the museum for a Christmas event, where they made cookies, and met with Santa. There were about 7 or 8 activities that the treehouse has to offer, and because my daughter is so young, she thoroughly enjoyed it. Personally, I wanted to leave after thirty minutes, but my daughter was happy and that's what matters.
What a great museum in Alexandria, Louisiana! What a fun, hands on experience for children of all ages. Many activities to do, especially on a rainy day!
There are many fun things for kids to do. A lot of hands on activities. Great little asset for Alexandria/Pineville
A good effort at a children's museum on the part of the community. Some of the exhitbits more interesting than others. The place was not that crowded when we went, but a couple of the exhibits were not kept orderly after the children played with them.
The Tree House is a children's museum with many activities for children. There is an amazing train display and many other children's activities.
Great place for kids, just wish they had a few more activities, will def be back. I'm really looking forward to seeing what type of activies they will hold in the near future!
Visited because Arna Bontemps African American Museum was not open. The kids had a little entertainment but all in all, boring.
My daughter went here on a field trip and loved it. There's tons for kids to do.
It's a big play house for kids. They have a story room, dress up center, play kitchen, play doctor/dentist, emergency vehicle, train, keyboard, fingerpainting computer, art center, an xbox game with kinect, and a station to put yourself inside a bubble. Very nice place to just let the kids run and play.
This is one of my families favs...esp on a rainy day. They usually have some hands on, staff lead, arts and crafts. We love the train station and the play diner/ kitchen. Sometimes the displays are not so clean, esp the toddler room, yuk :p Just wash hands when you leave.
