We took a tour with Captain John and it was great! He was very informative and we got to see an alligator ( it was their dormant time) and wild boar, a racoon, snake, & a river otter! They picked us up at our hotel and took us to the location and then the river tour! We really enjoyed it and would definitely go back especially in the summer when its a little warmer!

This was by far the best fun and informative trip I've gotten to experience. I've been to Ireland, Britain, Scotland, and other out've country trips but this tops them as far as hospitable, well informed, and talented captains who gave us the tour while teaching us everything about the environment and wildlife that inhabited it. We were fortunate to enjoy Captain Tray who while talented at handling the boat, also pointed out how everything throughout the rivers and swamps supported each other that most take for granted. I reccomend this tour to anyone who wants to have a great time. Oh, I almost forgot about our driver Mr Ronnie, who picked us up in front of our hotel and was very courteous and respectful to my family. 5 stars without a doubt!

This was one of the best experiences my family had on our trip to New Orleans. I had to convince my wife to try out a swamp tour, and after it was over, she said that she would like to go again the next time we visit Louisiana. She especially liked the fact that we were able to leave after breakfast and be back in New Orleans for lunch. Captain Wade was our guide and he couldn't have been more knowledgable about the plants and animals of the swamp. Not only was he a skilled captain, but he made the experience entertaining for both the adults and the kids. He warned us at the beginning of the tour that there may not be alligators out yet because of the time of year, but he ended up spotting more than five alligators that we would have never been able to find on our own. We also saw wild boars, osprey, herons, nutria(giant rats), and a multitude of plant life. The whole experience was educational and entertaining. I would definitely do this again.

We booked an entire boat for a private family reunion tour. Our captain was extremely knowledgable and the staff was friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our excursion. We saw lots of pigs and several gators! One of my favorites was being greeted by the big Irish wolfhound puppy, Murphy! I loved the beautiful cypress trees with the Spanish moss and funny jokes. Looking forward to do another one especially when the iris are in bloom.

I went on the larger boat with about 20 passengers. Although there was a lot of people, the tour remained very personable and funny. The tour guide Brian was great! He could probably talk about the swamp for hours if he had the chance, and any question asked about the swamp was answered. During the trip we also encountered a lot of cute wild pigs. It was awesome how Brian was able to get us so close to them. Pearl river Eco tours is definitely worth the trip. So much fun!

My 18 yr. old daughter and I paid a little extra for the more private 6 person skiff - absolutely worth it. Our guide, Captain John, narrated this ecological wonderland. It was only early March so the big gators are still hibernating, but we saw loads of small alligators, osprey, egrets, and wild boar. John was very knowledeable about the intricate eco system that is the swamp. It never felt like he was reading from a script. When we came upon some wildlife he elaborated on how that creature fits in with this environment. How the swamp sustains the unusual plant life was part of the tour, too. We really enjoyed seeing the various types of homes living along the swamp. Fascinating. Absolutely worth it and I'd love to do it again.

We regret your experience on our bus. The posted speed limit outside Orleans Parish is 70 MPH on interstate 10. Our busses cannot go that fast but perhaps you were in one of our vans. Often there is a delay in departing New Orleans due to guests not being at their designated pickup areas on time. At times this requires the drivers to periodically drive at the legal limit in order for you to arrive at our landing in time for boat departure. Our drivers have never been sited for speeding or unsafe operation but we will review our safe driving policy with them.. We trust that the tour itself was enjoyable as our other reviews indicate.

We paid a little extra to go on the more private 6-person skiff instead of the big ol' ferry boat that the rest of the group went on. This was awesome and well worth it! Our guide sped us though windy passageways at top speeds, wove through narrow lanes, and got us up close and personal with wildlife. This was so much more than an alligator tour! We saw a wild boar (and fed him marshmallows), and even a baby owl perched on a branch. One of the highlights was the strip of homes right on the bayou. It was also fascinating to see some of the wreckage still visible from the Katrina disaster ten years ago. We look forward to going back in warmer weather!

We visited Honey Island swamp in late January 2015 and it was one of the highlights of our trip to the States. The weather was a little cold so we didn't get to see any alligators, but Captain John's knowledge of the swamp more than made up for it, highly informative and interesting, it was an absolutely fantastic experience. I'd highly recommend Pearl River Eco-Tours.

Great guide and tour. We didn't expect to see any alligators because it was January but we did see a couple 3-4 footers. The best part was when the guide made his pig call and several wild pigs appeared on the shore and then came out to the boat. Also saw a little of the damage from Katrina. The guide was very interesting with a lot of good facts and info on the bayous. Tour lasted almost 2 hours.Note: the cost was $25/pp if you drove there and $50/pp if they picked you up at the hotel. So we took the tour the day we left New Orleans.

Our experience was phenomenal! Our guide answered all of our questions fully, plus additional information. He said that during November, all of the alligators would be in hibernation, so we probably wouldn't see any. But that didn't stop us from going out and seeing twelve real live alligators on the tour! During the tour you explore some interesting little passageways, you see tons of wildlife, and have a good time. You will learn that horse hair furniture is not made from horse hair (who knew?) and see a local town on the river. The houses are literally on the water, some of them elevated above the river. The tour provides a surplus of information, and is very enjoyable for all age types. (You should use the bathroom before you get on the boat.)

My son and I took the 6 person tour led by Captain Neil. It was a wonderful experience. Captain Neil is a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. It is obvious he loves the swamp and sharing it with others. All of our questions were answered intelligently and with humor.

This was an interesting adventure, and certainly a good tour value. The boat was comfortable, stable and fast, even when fully-loaded. Our guide was a skillful pilot, navigating through narrow and twisting passages. He was also quite knowledgeable and could answer any question posed by our group. The swamp itself was fascinating and beautiful. The only disappointment was the lack of wildlife, but in retrospect, this should have been expected, given that it is wintertime.

This is a fantastic tour. We had John as our guide and he was very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora of the Honey Island Swamp and great charisma. We opted for a hotel pick up in New Orleans and everything went really well. Highly recommended.

This is a great tour! Our guide (captain John) was a wealth of knowledge about the entire area and skillfully steared us through the most beautiful and trecherous swamp. We saw alligators, turtles, and tons of awesome birds. It was a great tour and im sure it would be even more amazing in the summer.
