This was the early home of last military school and has a lot of history. It has interesting architecture, and is worth a walk around.
Take a walk around here early in the morning, the architecture is bold and magic. A few steps from the Mississippi River.
This place is a remarkable piece of history, but less than exciting for those uninterested in their country's past. To be brief, the US build a barracks following the War of 1812 in Baton Rouge. It was a 5 sided , 2 story brick building, of which 4 sides still stand. It was part of the Confederate Army (Jan 1861-May 1862), then the US re-took Baton Rouge. From 1886 to 1926, it was the location for LSU. It was placed on the National Register in 1976 and is now a museum and has some state government offices. It houses the sort of stuff that you would expect: artifacts, dioramas and displays and lots of pictures and maps.
