This place is just ok. There are good water slides and decent rides at Dixie Landing. The food is insanely overpriced (like any park). The facility is aging quite a bit and needs some maintenance. Additionally, there is not enough shade. The clientele that frequent this place leave a little to be desired. I usually leave this place feeling dirty. I honestly only come here because my kids force me to one day a year. This is the only game in town for this kind of thing so I guess you get what you get, but it could be so much better.
I compare all Waterparks to Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels, Tx. This is a good alternative to driving to New Braunfels for us. The rides get better every year. There is an amusement park attached and the season ticket is a deal
Coming from someone who has worked there as a lifeguard in 2014, not all lifeguards are rude. You have the good ones, and you have the bad ones. Towards the middle of the season the company weeds out the bad ones. We're constantly being watched by out supervisors and always being audited by the company who certifies us for CPR. We have in-services that we must attend in order to keep or lifeguard and CPR licenses. It is to be sure that all lifeguard can perform their duties if and when needed. You'd be surprised how many peoples are saved and need help. You may think we're being rude, but it overall for the safety of our customers. It may not look like we're doing our jobs when we're bobbing our heads around, but I can assure you- the supervisors do their absolute best to make sure everyone's doing what they're supposed to (in the lifeguard division anyway).
We went in the morning to do the water attractions. There are some good slides and the wave pool is big. When it got REALLY hot we packed it in for lunch. After changing we went back and did the amusement park rides. It's not exactly Six Flags but it was a lot of fun and there were numerous rides for the little ones to have fun on. We got a discount by bringing in some Coke cans that kept the price down a bit. We were able to spend the entire day here. It was well worth the money.
well planned theme park with a large variety of rides. The concession stand was theme park food, the beer was cold, the open park for concerts was comfortable. Will definatly go again
What an aweful experience! We arrived and had to manuver through hundreds of people just to get to a locker to put personal items (all lockers are in the same area). We go to the pirate ship area and enjoy the water and get really thirsty after being in the sun, go to the conssecions for water and they are OUT! We then tried the Lemonade Stands and stood in line over 45 MINUTES because whoever was suposed to be getting ice for the stands was not doing their job. A good portion of the day was not spent having fun in the water or on rides, but instead standing in lines to try and find water, I did spend several dollars to get tap water from a vendor who was not selling drinks.
The admission price is what you'd expect for a big amusement park; $80 for 2 people, plus parking. But then the shock comes when u walk through the gates...It's pretty small, and the rides reminded me of a state fair carnival rides. The water park was nice. My 8 year old had fun though.
All the slides were fun and well managed.the life guards were helpful and nice. As always the fooda a place like this is over priced. But it was good. The area away from the water smelt like PISS. which did not go well when we wanted to eat.
We have been to several theme parks in the country and this is a small gem! It can get crouded but still nothing like most parks. Great family vacation spot with things to do for all ages! Great food values that were actually affordable! We will be back!
Seriously, the worst waterpark I've ever been to in my entire life. Will NEVER be going back. Some of the rides are all right, but the staff is awful, and the policies they have are even worse. 1 - You can only go in the lazy river ONE TIME AROUND, and then they literally force you out. Not only that, but you can't even walk down the steps into the water by yourself. You are FORCED by the workers to sit in the tube while they help you in. I asked if I could do it myself because I'm very short and have to get in awkwardly, and they refused. I then got yelled at when I got out of my tube (IN THREE FOOT DEEP WATER) to reposition myself. What the hell? 2 - They have a "no undergarments showing" rule. NEVER was enforced. Around 50% of the young men there had their swim trunks down around halfway down their thigh, with underwear showing blatantly. 3 - Dirty. Trash everywhere, ANIMALS, absolute disgusting water. Guys if you do go, please for the love of god do NOT go in the wavepool. We were informed by a STAFF MEMBER that people pretty much only go there to use it as a bathroom. Disgusting. 4. Smokers. They have a smoking area directly beneath the stairs for multiple rides, so you're forced to breathe in second-hand smoke while you stand in line for an hour. 5. Shady tactics. They have signs EVERYWHERE telling you how you MUST buy food tickets to purchase food, you can't use money. So, we did what they said, and purchased our food tickets. Then, when we went to the actual cafeteria, we were told they ONLY ACCEPT MONEY, NO TICKETS. Apparently tickets are ONLY for things like frozen lemonade and funnel cakes, despite the many signs saying you must use them for all food products. Not only that, they have a no-return policy, so our money was wasted. All around TERRIBLE place. Please god save yourself a terrible day and find somewhere better to vacation.
Me and my family came last week and had a very awful time and experience. there was eight of us plus our 1 year old. I called earlier that morning and asked if we could bring a small ice chest for my 1 year old the person I spoke with said yes you may but it strictly has to be water, milk if you need it and baby food. When we got there they looked through all of our stuff questioned me about the ice chest, where was my 1 year old, I said he just walked past y'all with his dad there now over the bridge. They refused letting us bring in our son's float knowing that there life vest wouldn't fit my son. The security lady with the very short hair cut was being very rude and "She told me that your son won't drown if your not holding on to him". They have a very big board filled with rules and the first one say's 1. No Rudeness2. No Profanity3. No cutting in linesThis is a family park!!!Well I'm sorry to let you know your staff is very rude and we wont be coming back. If it wasn't for my 12 year old son and my 7 year old nephew we would have asked for our money back.Your lines are definitely to long and don't really understand what the point is on purchasing tickets for drinks and food. Cost people way to much money and it will save us the hassle. Life guards need to watch/ pay attention out for the young kids in the wave pool.
This is an outstanding place for the kids and younger adults. Water slides were great!! I am 56 yrs old and only made it through five of the slides before I was worn out. We got there early and did not have to wait in line at all so by the time I climbed up slid down went to another one climbed and so on I was pooped!!! Had a great time and then rest until we hit the roller coasters in the other park!!! Needles to say every one slept very well that night!!!
We went on Friday and Saturday. Friday was great, it was threatening rain and it was a weekday so the crowd was not bad at all. Got our tickets validated as soon as we went through the gate so we could go for the 2nd day for free. We got there on both days before the park opened, which I highly advise you to do. The later you get there the worse it gets.Down side as various people have stated the employees are mostly teens without much interest in their guest. My husband fell right in front of an employee, she never even got out of her chair and she was selling food tickets, no one waiting, but never bothered to report it so superiors could double check. Never saw an adult, saw one person right by the lockers whose shirt said supervisor BUT she wasn't very old either, never saw her do anything except stand in the one spot. NEVER saw any park employees cleaning up anywhere except the eating area. In general just did not seem to be enough employees. The pirates cove is great for the little ones(50 inches and under) IF they keep the bigger kids, teens, and adults off the slides. Wasn't happening so much on Friday, but Saturday when it was packed that was a big problem. In the lifeguards defense on Saturday........there were lots more people than there was lifeguards, and there was no way they could keep up with everyone. NO one was working at the top of the slides so 3 or 4 kids would come down right behind each other, causing kids to get knocked down and banged around. The water is freezing cold in pirates cove for some reason, if it is super hot probably feels good. It's a fun park, little expensive if you only go one day (little over 40.00 including tax for anyone over 48" tall except seniors) but if you are only going for one day take a coke can $5.) Food is reasonable, your usual burgers, fries, pizza, and fried chicken. Parking is cheap at $5. Lockers were $10.00 I think, but you get $4 back when you return your key. If you aren't concerned that someone may take your stuff, you can just leave your bags on one of the tables. We left a pair of kids aqua socks on a chair and got back just in time to catch a lady taking them, so anything you would not want to be stolen I recommend you rent the locker. The bathroom/dressing rooms are crazy small not nearly big enough to deal with much of a crowd.
Good size park and had some great rides. Having a 4yr old I would have liked to see a few more water slides that was 35" or taller but he got his fill in the pirate Cove area. The lines got crazy long and I believe some of that due to unorganization and the life guards not paying attention. The lazy river was sad. You were only aloud to ride around once and then get out. And you can't swim around either you have to stay in your tube. That line was really long but if you rented your own tube there was a separate entrance for those tubes and you can go around and around as much as you wanted. We went on a Sat and came back next day on Sun. The same trash was on the ground the next day to include the same orange peel on one of the stairs, the same bandaid, the same nasty yuck in all the areas. Nothing was wiped down or cleaned. Another thing is you have to buy tickets in order to get food or drinks but also have food areas that take cash or credit. Makes no sense and these tickets are non refundable so you have to make sure you use them all. It's a $1 per ticket. Makes it hard to cary around cash, credit card, and tickets. They offer military discount as far as the active duty service member gets in free. And if you bring a can of coke you get $5 off. That was great. But..If you come back the very next day then day 2 is free except for thr military member. They have to jump in with some random family for when they pay full price then my Husband was supposed to say he was military and can get in free. He couldn't get in with us. It was the craziest thing. Oh and the money off for the coke cans yeah I had to pay that back in order to get day 2 free because u r supposed to pay full price. Ridiculous for sure. For a family of 7 the price was $207. And u can switch back and forth between the two parks. My advice get there when they open you can get right on the rides before the crowds hit and long lines form.
I have been taking my daughter here every summer for 5 years now. We always have a blast and come home, for the most part, exhausted and happy. The good: 1. The water rides are crazy good. There is something for everyone in your family here, from the Cobra to the playground. Often, the line moves at a decent pace- we have always gone mid week and stayed from open to closing time. The crowds are thin around lunchtime, so if you can eat early or late, you'll get more 'slide for your money. 2. The food is cheap enough, you get what you pay for. We bring our lunch and eat it in the parking lot. 3. The rides in Dixie Landing are fun and definitely worth checking out. They have classics like the Tilt a Whirl, Pirate Ship, and loopy de loop roller coaster, etc. 4. The Mambo is open. This is an Aqualoop where the rider actually goes upside down in a water slide. I was unfortunately one of the ones who got stuck, didn't make the loop and had to 'escape' thru a hatch. Luckily, this was easy enough, and apparently happens all the time, despite being plenty above the 90 pound minimum. I might try it again, next year. The Bad:1. Without a doubt, the staff. Really, just imagine a bunch of bored, completely dis-interested, clueless teenagers, and you've got it. Don't expect directions on how to go down the slide: When I did the Mambo, it was all automatic, no attendant to tell me to cross my arms or my feet. I knew to do this b/c I'd watched this on youtube, but you could seriously get hurt if you enter this slide the wrong way. Back to the staff, they don't really answer your questions, but rather grunt at you. The only staff who were personable were the admissions and the locker key return. 2. The bathrooms are absolutely atrocious. Stinky, dirty, just nasty. And all about the area, you get wafts of sewage smells, and, interestingly, cat pee.3. You can't bring in your lunch. For what you pay, patrons should be able to bring their own lunch.4. They do not enforce the 'no visible undergarment' rule. I was treated to various views of thug butts while waiting in line. Gross!5. This is my biggest complaint: the SMOKERS! They have a 'smoking deck' which happens to be the entrance everyone must use to get from the water park to the amusement park. So you get to walk down a long boardwalk lined with smokers on either side. There is no way around this. I know this is the deep south, but c'mon. At least put the smokers off to the side and not force the rest of us to breathe in their cancer causing exhalations.Despite all this, we will likely return next year, after all, all traditions have their pros and cons!
