This place is beautiful...the grounds....the house....the tree....the film! Must see for everyone, even locals!

very well presented, we looked at a presentation of the early Cajuns, enjoyed the presentation. Saw the wall of all the Acadians family names that arrived in Louisiana.

My youngest loves to take pictures and this place is awesome for that. Plus it's not a far drive for us. I love the beauty and relaxing atmosphere here.

Very nice and preserved plantation. We got to make several food items with dates!!! My kids especially loved making and eating ice cream from dates. The bread was tasty too!! Great for parents and kids! The hands on activities were great!

for another visit. The same tree and the same house and it all made me feel right at home. I recommend this to anyone with Cajun ancestry.

This site is a beautiful and well preserved southern plantation. The park employees are very friendly, knowledgeable of the history and culture, and dressed in period costume. This place makes you feel like you have gone back in time. A must for any visit to southern Louisiana

I suppose it is not fair to rate this place as poor as we did not go. We drove out but it was locked up tight It is a state park - why is it closed on Sunday? Don't they know it is a weekend and people work during the week? Close a park on a Sunday - what's up with that?

We really enjoyed this place. The friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff and guides made it most interesting. This is real, not Disneyland. The little historical museum in the office area is very well done. I can't remember the name of the young man on the Homestead farm, but he was most enjoyable and interesting! I chewed on my first sugar cane stalk here. :-)

I had been to see the Evangeline oak 35 years ago and back then it was just the oak with a fence around it. When we pulled in this time I was surprised to find it is a State Park (thus the fee). Thinking the $8.00 apiece was just to see the oak , we almost left without going in but decided to give it a chance. I'm so glad we did. They have a wonderful museum that gives an overview of the Acadian migration as well as the Creoles (French-speaking colonists). There is a very nice video presentation and at the end the curtains pull back to reveal a wall of windows overlooking the beautiful grounds. We walked down to the Creole cottage where a docent showed us through the house and explained how the people lived and how they added onto the home as time went on. We then headed down to the Acadian cottage which was much more modest. There was a docent there, although he wasn't near as good as the woman at the Creole cottage had been. There is also an area with another Acadian cottage (not accessible) and some other outbuildings. Overall, it gives a good picture of life back then. The staff was very pleasant and we were even offered some homemade bread pudding! If you like history, it will be worth the money.

Wonderful place to understand the history of the area. The staff are very informative. The park is well kept.

We visited the state park during our trip to Lousiana. This was extremely interesting. The house and the surroundings are beautiful. It is really enjoyable to walk around. The house itself is really well maintained. It is not Laura's /disney world like plantation but believe me it is far more interesting! And the reason for that is the staff which is absolutely charming and very knowledgable. We arrived late about 10 minutes late to the tour so when the tour was finished, the lady started back the tour for us IN FRENCH (yes we are french!). She was sorry for her french altough she was speaking perfectly. We has such a great time, the lady explained very clearly the difference between creole and accadians, warned us that we would hear very funny definitions and indeed it was funny to hear the one at Laura's...

Visited the park Memorial day weekend. The guides and staff were excellent-- knowledgeable and friendly. The grounds were well groomed even though I understand there has been a significant reduction in staff due to budjet adjustments. It was an enjoyable educational experience of the acadian people and their history.

An excellent presentation about the Acadian people in a real setting with a superb guide. We highly recommed to visit it.
