Every Saturday from 5am to noon people come and set up their wares. At least, 5-12 is the official time. We went about 7:30 and some people were just then setting up. Doesn't matter, like the other reviewers' glowing reports, we ADORED this place! It just put us in the BEST mood! When they say there was EVERYTHING, they weren't kidding. People were selling puppies, giving away kittens, selling used flea-market style items, furniture, new (cheap) clothing, We saw TONS of used DVDs for 50 cents!---hundreds of them in a very long booth, it was a lot. Also, crafts. We even found 2 booths that sold slightly out-of-date OTC vitamins and medicines from places like CVS. My guess is that CVS would take the vitamins off the shelf when they were close to expiring and sell them for one price. We paid $1 a bottle for BIG bottles! (I realize that some people might not approve of this medicine, but it's been working just fine for us. Only 1-2 months past prime). The same places also had brand new makeup from drugstores for $3.At the south end of the place was the food, fresh fruit and vegetables, things like that. Just a grand time!We were hungry, so when we got there we went to a little yellow take-away restaurant in the middle and got a sausage burrito---really good ($3). Plus some hot chocolate, because it was chilly that morning (I think it was $2). They also had sausage biscuits and other home-style foods. There were several little restaurants in the area, all open and serving. To find it, just drive south on Hwy. 11 when you get into Collinsville, it's right past the school on the right, coming from the north. It's just a bunch of empty, dilapidated looking booths until Saturday. You can buy a booth for the day, too, I think we'll do that next time we can go---$10 for a covered booth and $7 for uncovered. There are several parking areas, costs $2. We got one close to an entrance on the same side of the road, but there's also a large parking area directly across the street. Of course, each parking area will let you enter the booth area at a different spot. I think you would want to save walking, because it's all spread out and takes a while to go through.
We got great bargains on jeans, tee shirts, jewelry. Great for all kinds of shopping, market corn, tomatoes ,fruits great, antiques, glassware, jugs, bottles, some other great items such as swings, woodwork, plants and many children items. Clothes in all sizes. Cell phone items. So much to see. Parking $1.00. Not far from FORT PAYNE, DESOTO FALLS, NOCOLULA FALLS AND other attractions
My fiance and I walked around for quite a while looking at all the goods folks were selling. We ended up buying a beautiful piece of art as well as some local honey and antique knives. If you are in Fort Payne, Gadsden, or Mentone it is worth a drive on a Saturday. Make sure you come with cash in hand and some good walking shoes since all the walkways are covered in gravel that is set to give you a free ride!
Very interesting place. It has anything and everything you can imagine. Its huge so make sure you have all day.
This is a great way to spend a Saturday, cheap parking and lots to look at. It's no Texas Canton trade days but it will do for around here. Lots to look at with a bargain lurking around each corner .
