clarkson covered bridge

A great old covered bridge with an old fashioned grist mill and park. I proposed to my wife in the middle of the bridge. I was shaking so bad I was afraid I was going to drop the ring between the floor beams. It was an awesome day. Make sure you sign the guest book and l look thru it. You will be surprised to see where everyone comes from. A nice place to enjoy the day.

Great place to go and relax by the water, a pond or the creek. Most of the park is in dire need of repair, especially the mill. It is badly broken down. It is quiet and the bridge itself is a great attraction. It is free to get in and walk across the bridge.

I grew up around this bridge, it is very interesting history on this bridge. You need to check it out.

Visited the bridge on the way back from Crooked Creek Civil War Museum ( also a fun visit)- still being refurbished, but well worth a Fall visit.

Such a shame to see how badly this bridge is in need of repair and so glad to see that is exactly what is being done. It was built in 1904 and is the 2nd longest existing covered bridge in Alabama and is one of the longest in the United States, so it deserves to be saved.

We were unaware the Clarkson Covered Bridge is currently closed and under repair. It's not much to look at right now all fenced off and covered in yellow tape and scaffolding. I would have liked to read the historical marker but it's behind the fenced off area too. The corrugated metal roof is disappointing, not the backs woods rustic charm I was hoping for. If I'm ever back through this way I'll pop over and check out the renovations but I won't be making a special trip.

As their website states it is under construction for approx 3 months but we still drove over to it. You can see the bridge and take a picture but their are construction vehicles and the park is not open to the public now. It was still worth the drive to just look at it

if u like old stuff this is a cool old covered bridge and a picnic area. need to repair the old water mill so it will run like it did when I was a kid.

Just 15 miles west of I 65 at the 308 MM. This covered bridge stretches over 200 feet. There is a small museum and a tour guide. It is well-maintained by the local park and recreation department. It offers a nice break from interstate travel as there is a shady picnic area and photo opportunities.

We visited very early in the morning and found this historic place to be atmospheric and peaceful. Early morning mist was still around and it made for some lovely photos.

I love this park. Easy access from I65 if you are driving by, and close to Cullman's motels and restaurants. A great place to stretch you legs and experience a little bit of Alabama history.

Wonderful historic site. Family friendly, great for picnics or just exploring. Beautiful area for photographs.Some upkeep is currently being completed.

This bridge is amazing; it is the longest covered bridge that I have ever seen. The caretakers do a great job of keeping the place neat and clean. It was a very relaxing visit.

quiet setting, nice picnic area. good place to stretch your legs a little remote when you are the only ones there
