The parking lot doesn't look like much and the service road in isn't particularly scenic but ... there are some neat finds here, including the Jackson Oak and some burial grounds. You can also take the path all the way down to a public pier and take a boardwalk over to Bay Front Park.

My husband and I stopped at the park today and walked through it. The only thing we couldn't find was the "Primitive Burial Grounds." We did enjoy everything we did see and since we live close by, we will be returning. If you get a chance to go, by all means, do so. It is still somewhat a "work in progress," but well worth the trip, if you enjoy nature. You can look around you and see so much of God's beauty and it's a chance to see some of the area's history. There are signs warning to watch out for snakes and alligators, but what nature trails do you go on that don't have some warnings, especially about snakes. We met a lot of families along the way who were also enjoying the park, so it's not like you'll be all alone as you walk through it. We're truly blessed to have so much history to view and so much of God's beauty surrounding us!

I am a history geek, so I was psyched at the idea to go see the Jackson Tree. Unfortunately, my experience was not exactly what I expected, especially reading the reviews posted on here prior to my excursion. My outdoor experiences have included all sorts of creatures in Mother Nature, but this park was like a horror flick! The signs say to be on the lookout for snakes & gators, so I was vigilant about dangers on the ground ... not what was lurking above! After hiking to the cemetery, I noticed a huge web. The largest web I have EVER see and a spider the size of both of my hands side-by-side. Fluke? Nope! Hiking back, I started looking eye level and UP to be shocked that the infestation of these abnormally huge spiders were making webs on the power lines to the trees all above the trails! There was no escape! At that point, I could care less about the snakes, and ran all the way back to my car. Never again. The bad vibes, and abnormal upward dirt formations at the old indian village area was creepy. It is sad that a place meant for beauty is riddled with heavy horrible feelings lurking throughout. Perhaps it was just my personal visit to the preservation, but I won't be back after that anxiety induced experience!

Village Point on Scenic Hwy 98 has covered picnic pavilion with tables and restroom facilities. A nice walk through the woods recently planted with more native trees brings one to an ancient Oak tree and an old family cemetery from the 1700s. This wide trail through the woods connects with a boardwalk and trail ending at the bay. There is a fishing pier and beautiful sandy beach. Not handicap accessible. Nature all around!

Time to pull into village point park and walk all the way to the bay. Venture off to the boardwalk to the right and maybe see a gator. Come back on the board and keep going to the beach boardwalk. Back up the hill be sure to take in the cemetary and be thankful you are still vertical, then it's around Jackson's oak before your back in the parking lot, slowed, mellowed and ready for your favorite music and life's next challenge.

I'm local and this park is worth seeing. Its a great place to get next to wildlife, particularly water birds.

Have ben here many times to walk or bird. Good bathrooms. Don't miss the old cemetary or Jackson's Oak. Walk all the way down the hill to the bay. Bug spray may come in handy.

Great walking or biking trail. The park is like stepping into an old growth forest with a number of state champion trees and palmetto undergrowth that leads you down to Mobile Bay.

Great place to walk and relax. Woderful views and gives a real taste of the area.

Pretty boring unless you want to go off path next to a swamp and play Man and Wild and dare a gator or go into the brush and dodge a snake. Length of trail shorter than expected

So amazed that you can stand on the Bay and see trees not condo's like most of the Gulf Coast. The Gulf Shores of Alabama continue to surprise and entertain me. This little gem has nice walking, friendly people and ample parking. Felt very comfortable being solo! You can enjoy fishing from the two piers, or rocking on the porch swing seats as you savor the sights of the bay. Alligators are on the property but I didn't see any. There is also a little stretch of beach that people were enjoying. Playing fetch with their dogs. The Oak is impressive and there are picnic tables here as well as scattered throughout the park. There is also a Indian Burial Ground but my sandled feet were not appropriate dress for the section I think its located. Next time I will print off the map from the website so that I can understand the trail system better. The only address I could find was 2605 US Highway 98 and this gets you in the neighborhood but too far south. My GPS indicates a better address would be 27638 Main Street Daphne this would be to the 2nd exit. The entrance would be further north. There are two entrances both off of Main street which is Scenic 98. Old 98 Intersects with 98 just North of the park entrances. According to a map I found it looks like you should be able to enter either from Bel Air or just a bit more down Old 98 to an additional parking lot. The Bel Air entrance is closer to the Bay, Pier, and boardwalk where the alligators are supposed to be. Tthe 2nd entrance is closer to the Old Oak and a good walk to the bay and fishing.

This is a great walk, about two miles down to the bayfront. There is an old live Oak trees which is one of the largest in Alabama. You will also see D'Olive Cemetery with headstones dating back to the 1800s. During the Spring Time butterflies are abundant as you near the bay.
