I only had the opportunity to spend a few hours in Fairhope but I think I could have spent days visiting all the cute little shops and boutiques! To make the most of your visit, stop by the history museum first and pick up a map of the area with all the shops and restaurants highlighted!
This place reminded me of a number of small artist towns like Eureka Springs, Arkansas, or Pacific Grove, CA. The main street, Fairhope Avenue, is a hotbed of local shops, restaurants, and flowers. The white twinkle lights are left in the trees lining the street year-round. It is very walkable and quaint. The parking is free. If you have an afternoon, this is a great place. Or, if you have a whole day, be sure to visit one of the local museums.
We own a condo on Fairhope Avenue between downtown and the Pier and it is the best location in Fairhope! Fairhope Avenue is a beautiful, multi-purpose street with beautiful flowers year round, shops, restaurants and residential all within a few minutes of each other.
This is a nice place to walk, with a variety of little shops and places to eat. It is close to the water, which for me is a plus. The people are friendly and though much smaller, it reminds me of Asbury Ave in Ocean City, NJ.
We went with friends up to Fairhope to see this town. A beautiful area is Fairhope Avenue, BUT do not go there in February on a Sunday. Almost all the stores were closed. We still enjoyed walking up one side and down the other. The flowers along the sidewalks were beautiful.
Had a fun day browsing the quaint shops in the area. So nice to get away from e touristy shops along the beaches...friendly and helpful staff everywhere! Bought some unique balsamic vinegars...be sure to check out the Happy Olive!
What a great Main Street to stroll! Quaint shops, really friendly people! Cats Meow was my favorite.
cute and trendy shops all along both sides. Trees are covered in little twinkly white lights.....no parking meters....all parking is angle or parallel.
Nice mix of restaurants and shops. Plenty of parking near the library if you can not find on the street parking. The white Christmas lights added "bling" for Christmas.
So much art with such great shops and galleries, all in walking distance to the bay. Amazing Restaurants, especially The Dragonfly and The Gumbo Shack.
Loved riding through this beautiful small town that we had read about in T&L magazine. Would love to go back and spend more time here.
We stayed in Orange Beach over Thanksgiving and took a trip to Downtown Fairhope on black friday. We were AMAZED at all the little shops and restaurants. We have decided to take another trip back to Fairhope for their arts festival!
We stopped at Fairhope for lunch but ended up spending several hours enjoying the shops and sites. This would be a great girls' weekend with lots of fun things to do. Very pretty town.
Loved the rows of shopping even though most seemed to cater to older people as far as clothing... Lots of antiques, not enough coffee shops!
a variety of shops and restaurants appealing to everyone in every budget and age group, everything within walking distance
