belle mont mansion

It is a lovely home that has been preserved well along with the grounds. It's importance in the Civil War. There is also an interesting story about the manufacturing of wagons in the area.

The pre-civil war mansion was interesting but the guide spoke too fast and did not enunciate properly. He seemed knowledgable but did not interact well with people. Belle Mont obviously is interesting but parts of the home have not been restored yet. We would have enjoyed it so much more if we could have understood the guide.

This is a nice stop, and the guide is very knowledgeable about every aspect of the mansion, it's history and the pieces found inside. I have always wanted to stop in and finally had the opportunity on a trip to northwest Alabama. The offer discounts to seniors and former military. Worth the trip off the beaten path.

What a unique style house to find in Alabama and very detailed restoration is still ongoing. CHristmas open houses have been popular there and I have attended several.. If you like house museums you will enjoy visiting this one.
