If you like good beer, go here. It's not far from downtown or the Arsenal and tucked away in an industrial area. Great local beer, friendly staff, and an amazing game room with several pinball machines and video games, with cupholders, natch. Will definitely be back.
My husband and I visited Straight to Ale earlier this week and had a great time. I ordered a beer flight and loved them all. The pale ale was my favorite. It's a neat location and also offers reasonably priced merchandise. Worth a stop in!
Straight to Ale is an excellent microbrewery destination, but Alabama State Laws apparently make it a bit of a treasure hunt to roll on in. There is no obvious signage in their business park, and a GPS will find some challenge to get you there. Persist though, and at this point, look out for Matrix Gym and its not too far from there. Once you arrive, there is ample parking and an awesome experience awaits inside!
Recently went to the Homebrew Fest 2014 event held at Straight to Ale with almost 30 beers to taste. Great idea to showcase local folks handiwork. Beer stations were set up in the warehouse with some tables to sit and sip. The fenced in area outside also had tables and a stage for the bands that played.Very nice and fun atmosphere. This place is evolving from simply a brewery/taproom to a place for events of all kinds. Of course their brews are excellent, providing options that will satisfy almost everyone's tastes. Well worth a visit and keeping up with the upcoming special activities.
A pleasant surprise to find this establishment in Huntsville. I was missing good craft beer from San Diego. We took the brewery tour. Good explanation of the brewing process and the beers they brew. The tasting room has a welcoming atmosphere and the beer is tasty. Loved the Lily Flagg Milk Stout and Brother Joseph's Belgian Dubbel.
I've been to the Straight to Ale Taproom a few times now. It's a "bare bones" kind of place...they don't serve food, but there is usually a food truck or some kind of food vendor parked outside. The beer is awesome...I've had a couple of their flights or samplers and enjoyed many of their brews. I particularly enjoy the Wheat Beer, but I am a beer wimp and don't care for IPAs. The large "back room" is excellent for music...I've seen a solo act, a band and went to a "CD Release" event there...each time I really enjoyed myself. The bar tenders are very knowledgeable about their beers and will give you recommendations and samples to help the novice, like me, decide what to drink. It's a little hard to find the first time, but well worth searching for.
The Monkeynaut IPA is everything you could want in an IPA, wish I could have figured out how to bring a keg of it back home to NJ!As far as i know this is the only brewery with a taproom in the Huntsville area, but it does not disappoint. It is a place for real beer lovers, no food and definitely a warehouse/brewery atmosphere. With the excellent beer they are serving here who really cares about eating! The evening we were here we also tried a wonderful Hefeweizen that reminded me of Hoegaarden. My uncle loved the rich, sweet, and slightly boozy 11.7% ABV Imperial Stout. That was a serious beer! The clever Rocket City themed names given to their brews are to die for.It made my night to meet the friendly owner who was kind enough to give us a brief tour of the brewery! This brewery is going places, go check them out before they become discovered and too corporate.
You'll love their signature Monkeynaut IPA, and the rest of their selections are just as good. Be sure to try the barrel aged beers. Tours are available on Saturdays. $5 pints, $1 samples, or get a sampler. No food, but the food truck makes frequent stops, or you can bring your own.
This is one of my favorite places in Huntsville to grab a beer with friends. They always have a great selection of their beers, which are brewed on-site. Their selection usually includes their traditional line of beers and and a few seasonals on rotation. If you are having trouble picking out which beer you want ask Fico, their friendly bartender, or go with the sampler platter. The taproom also has an old school arcade with titles ranging from Ms Pac Man, to pin ball, to Golden Tee. Prices for the arcade are very in-exspensive, so bring a pocket full of quarters. There is additional seating in the actual brewery--I love sitting in the brewery area when the brewmasters are working. The brewery seating area also has cornhole, dart boards, ping pong tables, and foosball all of which are free to play.Straight to Ale does not serve food, but they do allow you to bring in your own snacks or meals. They also offer tours for a nominal fee on Saturday afternoons. Most of the tours are led by Henry who works in the brewery, is very friendly and knowledgable about their process.
