So you think a "zoo" is for kids...well Harmony Park Safari was one of the most fun things we have done. I had three bored teenagers and we were looking for something to do...we decided to go to Harmony Park Safari and had a blast. We laughed so much at all the emus, and other animals. It was a delightful few hours of fun and we will definitely go again! This is a MUST SEE in Huntsville area! Fun for all ages
Although I have lived in Huntsville for 13 of the 15 years Harmony Park has been here, I had no idea it existed until a month ago. It was extremely fun to drive through, and there is a separate area you can walk to see fish, tortoises, reptiles, some birds, a giraffe, and a kangaroo. The kangaroo looked sick to me. All of the animals in the driving route, the kangaroo, and really everything were very dirty. The whole route was extremely muddy. But we did come right after they opened from the winter, so it's possible the vegetation hasn't grown in yet. They recently opened the giraffe's area (he was confined to the inside of a barn-like structure), and there is also a new building for the reptiles. It looks like it could be much nicer with a little bit of work. For example, the roof of the reptile building was the roof, particle board, and spray insulation. No ceiling between you and insulation. But they don't accept volunteers, so I guess a few people and no internet presence to bring more customers can only do so much. Worth the visit, and I'll probably go again, but it needs some tender loving care.
We took the grandsons and they were ecstatic especially when the animals stuck their heads in the window to get the food
It was so fun to see my nephews enjoy the animals! The adults in the car were laughing trying to feed the animals; it was an experience that they want to do again this summer!
We went here on a Saturday last September. We got bored staying in Huntsville so we came back the next day. You drive through this animal park and all the animals come right up to your car. They sell you food to feed them and the animals know you have it.Goats, Buffalo, sheep, cows, horses, so many to list here. The buffalo was bigger than our car and he eat food right out of my hand. It is a once in a lifetime experience. If in the area we will be back.
took some friends with their kids to this drive through attraction and had a really good time! It's a nice ride out past Ditto Landing, and it's very quiet out there. The excitement if any of the animals got to close to the car was so much fun. Would recommend it for anyone with kids.
I went here last summer for the first time and will be visiting a lot this coming year! The animals are well cared for and friendly...to the point of trying to get in the window! I took my relatives and they had a ball. Did you know that tortoises will race to get some romaine lettuce??? It's true! The keepers are friendly and knowledgeable...check it out!
We've lived in Huntsville for 10 years now, and this is the first time coming here. We'll absolutely be back, what a BLAST! The $5 bucket of food was essential to get the full experience, that of having the animals sticking their heads INTO the truck. Nothing like turning to look out the window and having a zebra or ostrich face to face! The grandsons (6yo and 3yo) loved it almost as much as the grownups! It is a MUST DO.
If you like seeing animals up close and personal this is your place. The cost was was $8 per person (Under 2 free). We spent about an hour or so here. If you have 5 or more in your vehicle the $5 bucket of food was free. You definitely want to buy the large bucket of food if not. You drive thru and the animals come running up to your car window to eat. It was a fun experience with many laughs. We saw/fed an Ostrich, Zebra, Bull, Deer, Llama's just to name a few. They have a few monkeys, 1 giraffe & Kangaroo in cages along with a reptile house to view.
A great outing for the kids, watching the animals roam the countryside. But the ram got close and scratched our car.
This is a hidden gem and a MUST do while in the Huntsville Area! Be sure to get the BIG bucket of kibbles, you'll need it!!
We took our 2 grandchildren, ages 6 and 1. They loved it as well as us. They animals come up and eat out of your hand's and are not shy. Get the bucket of food for $5 well worth it. Price was great, and not far from home. Loved the monkeys, reptile house was great. I did't like the hill you had to walk up to see the giraffe disappointed once there. It was one and it would not come out. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone. Very relaxing.
The thrill of this place is that the animals come up to your car and you can see them up close. The non-thrilling part is that there are not lots of animals and some are quite common. Don't expect a major zoo-like feel.I gave 4 stars because it is so different from anything else in this area. You have to drive 1.5 hours to Bham or 2 hours to Nashville to see the animals found here. Out of town visitors love it! The price is reasonable. It's fun for kids and we adults had lots of fun too.
my 4 yr old grandson loves this place. we have been 6 or 7 times this season , had a great time each time. we went tues oct 28th. All the workers have been nice . This young lady, never seen working here b4. she was so sweet , she talked 2 my 4 yr old grandson , no matter what she made time to talk to him , explain things to him. It wasnt just one time , he went up to her several time SHE WAS GREAT. I DONT REMEMBER HER NAME SHE WAS A 21 YR OLD KID . THANK YOU AGAIN YOU ARE A DOLL.
With the name "safari" in the title you wouldn't think the size of your vehicle should matter, but apparently it does. We were headed to Florida from Kentucky when I saw all the great reviews for this park. I decided to stay in Huntsville, in part, to see this park but as soon as we pulled up they very unapologetically told us we would not fit through the park and we had to leave. I told her that we drove 30 minutes from where we were staying hoping she would think of an alternative for us but she just said we had to leave. On the way out we saw a work truck larger than the vehicle we were driving. Horrible customer service with no empathy. The little bit we could see from the parking lot the animals were just in fenced dusty pens.
