On a vacation date night with my husband, this theatre lived up to the reviews. Wonderful owner and personal service,he greeted many of the movie goers by name. The regulars offered us advice on restaurants to go to and were very welcoming. Although some things could use an update, the overall experience was very enjoyable!

I happened upon the Crescent Theater while looking for things for my wife and I and another couple to do in Mobile Al. The Crescent is a throwback to old town small theaters which are becoming hard to find. Max the owner/ticket seller/ticket taker/seller of concessions/projectionist is the ultimate host. He was very friendly and accommodating. We were early for the show and paid for our tickets and chatted with Max. We mentioned that we were planning to go to Felix's Fish House for dinner. Max called the restaurant and made reservations for us with waterfront seating. He then said if we wanted to go into the theater early we could reserve some of the front row recliners. We each got a beer or wine from the cooler and Max said don't worry about it, just stop buy and square up after the movie. You can even help yourself to another beverage during the movie. Only the second time in my life where I have encountered a proprietor who trusted complete strangers? Before the movie started, Max spoke in front of the audience with a brief introduction to the movie "Still Alice" for which the actress had just received an Academy Award for Best Actress a couple nights prior. The sound system was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the movie while sipping a cocktail from our recliners. After the movie we paid for our drinks and talked about how great the entire experience was. An added treat was that before the show, we stopped across the street from the theater at A&M Peanut Shop and purchased reduced price peanuts for feeding squirrels. They also have delicious nuts and candy. Then we walked across to the adjacent Bienville Park and knelt down and most squirrels will take a nut from between your fingers. We were also glad we visited the Mobile Carnival (Mardi Gras) Museum the same afternoon.

My best friend and I visited on Mother's day! (Seen "The Other Woman") We did a Dinner/movie date! Omg I feel in love with this place from the flat moment I walked it.... Owner was so hospitable.... You can purchase beer/wine and popcorn.... the seats were so comfortable! I recommend anyone whose in Mobile Al downtown area to visit this GREAT place!

What a great little theater! Its an older, lovely building. The owners are very welcoming and show great movies. You can relax in Lazy Boy chairs in the first row and enjoy snacks and a beer or bring your own food. It is an all around fun place to see a flick.

I have been to several movies at the Crescent, and the owner seems to have great taste in showing current and classic movies. I also like the choice of drinking a alcoholic beverage during a show. A nice touch.

Get there early, grab some beer and wine and then kick back in a recliner. The movies are often not strictly mainstream. This is a laid back venue.

We were in for Bayfest. I bought the movie tickets online. It was a little over 10 bucks each with tax/ect. There is a row of recliners in the front row that I guess people love.. but they are way to close to the screen for my liking. We sat up near the back. Seats are comfy. Place is clean. I think my water and small popcorn was 6.00 bucks. They have a good selection of drinks even alcohol. Movie was great. It made for a nice evening activity. If you want a recliner you need to get there early.. they go fast

If you're from out of town, you'll probably want to tell your friends back home about it. Max, who owns and runs the place will seem like an old friend before you leave. The Crescent alternates artsy type films with Hollywood hits. Mid-week, Max will sell you your ticket, get you your popcorn, introduce the movie from the front of the theater and is also the projectionist. It is just that type of place, and Max is that type of guy. They have beer and wine in addition to the standard issue Milk-Duds and mass produced popcorn. A lot of quirkiness here, all of it good. Lot's of places nearby to grab a snack or drink before or after.

Love this place - come in and buy your ticket, along with your beer or wine, then enjoy a little background on the movie you're fixing to see provided by the owner, who then runs the film himself (no 20-minute previews). If you need a drink refill, you get it in the lobby and settle up when the movie's over. There are also recliners in the first couple of rows, and he makes sure everybody's reclined and blanketed as they desire before he heads to the projector booth. Love it!

Were a little disappointed that many if the recliners are broken but we go here every time we visit dauphin island. Saw "my old mother" today and really liked it. Will return next trip!

If you are looking for a night at the movies this is the place. Small but beautifull. Film selection is great (if you do not expect Blockbusters). What I liked best was the guy who runs the place. Before the movie he welcomed the vistiters and talked about the upcomming movie. If I am ever back in the area , I will come back!

This place is a throw back to when the theater was great entertainment. You walk in and can grab a beer or some wine and then pick out a comfy seat. The owner is very friendly and always comes in a talks to the audience and introduces the movie. It is a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable way to spend an evening.

You will love this place. The owner comes in and greets you and talks about the film before it starts. Grab a beer or whatever and snuggle into the old comfy seats. The place fills up so get there a little early. Nice intimate old style movie theater with the look and emphasis on the word Theater.

I've been here several times and I really like it. It's so much better than the larger theaters. The owner is very friendly and talks about the movie before he shows it. You can tell he takes pride in his theater. There's also a nice selection of beer and a few wines to buy before the movie. Popcorn and candy are also available. Keep up the great work!

I love that they show movies on 35mm film. The crackling and spots make it feel vintage, but still pretty high def. The owner of the theater comes out before the movie and introduces it to the audience, usually giving you fun facts that make the experience more interesting. The place also has a zero tolerance policy on cell phones and they will ask you to leave at the drop of a hat, which I can appreciate. They also serve alcohol and allow you to open a tab, so that if you buy concessions during the show, you don't have to miss even more of the movie by stopping to pay. It's the best.
