This was a great experience to stand at this site. I wish we had more time to experience the museum.
I felt like this could have been better memorialized. All there is, is a sign out front of the museum that talks about the bus boycott. Nothing really stating or showing where exactly it was that she was arrested.
The museum tour is very well put together. Very thought provoking and educational. We were educated on back history and what happened after the arrest.
well done piece of important history - well documented plaques around the area. Took a moment to think and reflect.
Given the contributions that Rosa Parks and other fearless people made to promote Civil Rights and equality in this country, no trip in the area is complete to see the location where Ms. Parks made her stand by sitting down. The arrest site is adjacent to the Rosa Parks Library and Museum (which is sadly closed on Sundays). When traveling in the area, you would be remiss to not stop and see where history was made.
The actual beginning of the civil rights movement-a marker where Rosa Parks got on the bus when she refused to give up her seat. It's inspiring that Montgomery is proud of it's history whether it be good are tainted at times. The entire walking tour from here is worth taking.
A historical marker indicating the bus stop where Rosa refused to give up her seat. Right near the Rosa Parks Museum. Great way to begin the museum experience.
As part of a walking tour of the 1960's cicil rights movement, this is one stop along the way that has a great view up Dexter to the Capitol building.
The picture posted is not the actual sight (sculpture) it's where she got on the bus (site slightly over). However it was interesting and humbling to stand in the location that she got on the bus and ironically the same area in which slaves were sold and then to look down just a very short distance and see the location in which Mrs. Parks was arrested.
