john river

I spent 10 days camping out on the John River in mid Sept w/Dave Arp and Dave Heriard. Unfortunately Alasaka is suffering thru a drought this yr as well and that meant slow river flow, and less game in that area. We had a lot of fun and I learned that I do not like sleeping in a mummy bag but I can do it. Hiking around was a blast and seeing moose, bear and wolf tracks the size of my hands and feet was exciting, but the rare glimpses we got of real game was not exactly what we had hoped for. Will try the Koyukuk river in a couple of yrs, Probably go Caribou hunting there next yr. God willing. Great to be able to do this at age 55!
