Our neice and nephew loved playing here and came back 2 more evenings. We enjoyed seeing the sea otters and marbled murreltes in the bay.
We walked Waterfront Park after visiting the SeaLife Center. We were able to locate the Founder's Monument and the spot where the Iditarod was historically said to have started. Since Seward is the "mural capital," we were in pursuit of the many murals that were painted in the downtown area.
We considered camping here because it is so close to many places we wanted to visit, but the campsites are wall-to-wall and it is so wet and muddy. The good thing is the waterfront view, if you happen to get one of those sites.
Park is beautiful and clean, playground built by town locals. Breathtaking views of Resurrection Bay. Great for adults and children.
The park has great views of the bay and is super close to downtown Seward. Camping is nice there if you do not get one of "those" people near you. The city has people checking the sites frequently, so the eyes of government are upon you...
We were originally supposed to park our RV at the military facility in Seward but saw that it was too far away from downtown Seward. We found the Waterfront Park RV and decided to stay here. It wasn't full hook-up but the scenery is breathtaking! It was beautiful waking up every morning to the snow capped mountains and Resurrection Bay right in front of us. It is walking distance to all of the shops and fishing village in Seward. The host of the RV park - Jim - was so informative of the area and also a very funny man! He had us laughing and by the time we left it felt like we had made a friend. Definitely worth staying here!
We are staying in the Holiday Inn right on the harbour, from our room we can walk the whole length of the waterfront into town just over a mile away which we have done a couple of times. The trail is initially a boardwalk that passes the small boat harbour & is then paved right along the waterfront. The views of the mountains & bay are spectacular, but what adds to the atmosphere is the mix of fishermen & woman fishing & the mix of RV & tent camping along the front. This is a small opportunity to see locals & visitors at play, people meeting up and being happy to just sit around their pit fires and chill & fish. There is also a park area for children up to aged 12 & a small skateboard area. There are benches dotted along the path & it is common to see Sea Otters in the bay quite close to the shore. At the end of the park is the Sealife Centre, pop into the cafe here or go onto 4th street & into the Ranting Raven or Sea Bean cafe for a coffee & pastry then stroll back down the waterfront just drinking in the views. We have done this in foul weather & in glorious sunshine with clear blue sky's, it's a wonderful walk whatever the weather.
This park is right on the water, with gorgeous views, it has seating and amenities, also a lovely cafe/restaurant, plenty of parking, very close to all shops and town centre.
I have never seen a park quite like this one. All along the bay is a paved walkway from downtown Seward to the marina. In some areas, it is a campground mainly for RVs with hook ups. There is also an area for tents. In other areas there are picnic tables, a playground, a large pavilion. Between the path and the bay, there are large firepits all along the water front. People from the campers were building fires and sitting around drinking and we walked along, stopping to chat here and there, and also to watch the otters playing out in the bay. It was dusk and cloudy and just magical. There are also historical markers all along the path explaining about the park and Seward. Well worth an hour or so on a quiet evening in this gorgeous town.
Nice place to walk and take in the mountain and sea views. Fun to see all the campers too. Grab a coffee, grab a bench and soak it all in.
Weather was pretty bad but this provided a nice place to just watch the clouds play off the mountains.
We parked out truck/camper at Waterfront park for several nights during our recent stay in Seward. Perfect location and view, even in the rain! Good size camp sites, water and electric available. Dump station close by and rest room area with showers. You can walk anywhere from this location. Lots of viewing of boats coming and going, we enjoyed watching the salmon swimming up river from the bridge. Spots fill fast. Reservations are only accepted for the larger caravan groups.
I loved it's look we took 2 cruises while in Seward, the harbor was very pretty loved the colorful mix. End of day they have catch of the day pictures on the pier for free/your own camera of course.
This park is a great place to set up your tents, two tents per site are allowed. The views are spectacular, the water is wonderful and one can walk to most attractions in town from the park. There is a great playground for the children and the trail is lovely to walk. An inexpensive stay in Seward!
We spent several days in Seward and enjoyed walking about town. One pleasant are is the Waterfront Park. A very nice walking path from the Sealife Center, Zudi's Cafe, camping area, and RV park, is all very pleasant, leading up to the harbor and many related businesses. I recommend for a pleasant evening walk.
