We were on a Celebrity Millenium cruise, and we rented a car (Avis) in Skagway for the day. After a great drive on the Klondike to Carcross, Yukon, Bennett and Emerald Lakes, and the beautiful scenery on the way there, we stopped at Seven Pastures Disc Golf Course. It was easy to find the park (just before crossing the river on the way back into Skagway). After you park, the course is a short walk away, in back of the ball field. I had trouble finding all the holes, and I only brought along 1 disk (my trusty midrange driver - Stingray), but shooting at the Kegs turned about to be a kick (fun!). My wife enjoyed spotting for me. There are lots of trees, but the holes I found were either short or mid-range with some turns left or right.

Frankly, as a Skagway resident, I'm surprised to see any interest in Seven Pastures. The entire area consists of 2 ball fields, a restroom, a grassy field where the crew members play soccer or folks play with their dogs, and the woods with the trails and disk golf course. These woods are used primarily for dog walking, as evidenced by the several posts bearing a doggy 'disposal' bag dispenser, but the disk golf does attract a few people, usually at the end of the day. You'll see groups of 2-4 people, trooping through the woods from tee to 'hole': a beer keg on a stand. Par is listed at each tee, and you play it just as you would golf, just throwing a disk instead, and making the 'hole' when you hit the beer keg with the disk. There is a large parking lot to the east of the ball fields; the road leading south through it abuts the garden refuse area, where there are pile of leaves and yard refuse, larger trees and limbs and even manure and some concrete. Past that the road continues through the woods for less than 1/4 mile, ending at the Skagway River. The course wends its way through the woods. It's a very pretty walk through the predominantly cottonwood forest along the trails, as it leads down to the river. It's about 1.75 miles from the ship. You could take the shuttle from the ship; if you do, buy the $5 all day pass. It will prove to be a bargain if you are on a tight budget and want to wander the town as opposed to taking a tour, hiking the trails, or shopping along the one street, 7 blocks long, that serves as the business/historic district. Seven Pastures is just across the river, west of the shuttle stop for the Gold Rush Cemetery just east of the river. To the west and bordering Seven Pastures is Jewel Gardens, and 1/4 mile or so beyond that is the Gold Dredge. I believe Shuttle service ends at this point and returns to town/docks.
