Be sure to stop in to the gateway to Alaska. The refuge visitors center is only about 15 miles from the border crossing. The center is beautiful and the staff are wonderful! Super clean bathrooms, a beautiful viewing deck and a great introduction to the beautiful state of Alaska make this a must-stop on your journey.

This is a beautiful stretch of road with lots of lovely views,one of the nicest stretches in Alaska.we stopped for short walks at season area and hidden lake, great fun.call to the visitors center for a visitor guide, there are no shops so bring your lunch but it's also one of the the wonderful things about the drive .

Tetlin is a nice break if you are on your way to Valdez. The scenery is gorgeous and you never know what you might spot in the surrounding landscape!
