Great place to go in the winter when it's cold outside. There are not only amazing science experiments and animals for them to see, but also some gross motor equipment for getting out the wiggles. Definitely a must do with kiddos!
My kids faces lit up when they saw all the awesome interactive exhibits in the Imaginarium. My daughter was enthralled with the "jumping" video and my son loved the volcano and the big bubble. We could have stayed for hours more.
Take the time to play with every exhibit. You will walk away with a wealth of science and physics knowledge! This place is fascinating. And don't miss the exhibit about passenger pigeons just outside the Imaginarium.
We had a great time here. Thought we would only be here for about an hour but we had too much fun to leave so quickly. We probably spent the most time playing in the bubble room. We worked very hard to perfect our techniques so we could envelop ourselves inside of a bubble. We also had a great time in the science room. This room had many hands-on science activities that we all enjoyed. Brought our the kid in me!
As a former science teacher I vote this a plus for any family, wanting to expand the mind of children and yes even adults. This complex in the Anchorage Museum offers a variety of learning experiences. It will be easy to supervise your children since ther is open spaces. My 3 1/2 yr old grandchild found many things to explore and her parents offered age appropriate information. I observed kids about 10 and 11 exploring in a more advanced way and gaining insight into the world of science. A. Bonus thru early Jan is a separate fee LEGO exhibit that is well worth the extra fee. Hope you take advantage of the Imafinariu,
It was well thought out with many points of interest for our children, it was stylish and attractive, highly interactive and educational. Most importantly, it was cooler and more fun than all the other imaginariums we've been to. Amazing that it is in a little city like Anchorage.
This place is amazing! All kids big ones and small ones and quite large and old ones would have a fantastic time here. You should bring your children here. They will learn things and have fun doing it! All kinds of experiments! Just plain fun. Take the kids and "test" all the things yourself! you will be glad you did!
There was plenty to keep our 23 month old and 4 year old grandsons busy for about 90 minutes. We were impressed! Looked like there were lots of activities for older children also.
I took some of my students here during Christmas break, they had a blast. the establishment was very kid friendly and courteous and accommodating to my students
The Imaginarium has been around since I was a kid in the 80's I believe. In that time, it has expanded and moved location to gain more space and add more attractions. There are a ton of fun and interactive activities that teach kids about everything from math, to physics, to animals, to history. There is a great toddlers area with small slides, building blocks, and table games. There are also fun activities for older kids such as large bubble contraptions that allow the kids to encase themselves in a bubble cylinder. My father took me here as a child and I loved it, and have taken my kids who also enjoyed it. There is a gift shop there, but the prices are pretty high, although some of the merchandise is fun and education worthy. Very unique and education supportive place for children in Anchorage.
Our boys enjoy it as well & the rest of the children; nothing big but good enough for even adults to some fun. One hour would be more than enough.
I'll keep this simple. If you're in Anchorage don't miss this especially if you have children of any age. Lots of interesting and fascinating stuff. The rest of the museum is great too!
I saw just as many adults playing as kids, it was nice that they had a planetarium too. I thought having an area for toddlers brilliant.
This place is like a dream for children. There are so many things for them to do. And I love that so much of it is educational and displayed in such a way that the children can actually learn something. For example, the giant bubbles that teach about water tension. Amazing! My little one who is an iPad addict can spend hours watching the marble run. The cause-effect of that contraption is more interesting to her than the iPad. That's good enough for me!
Great place for the kids to spend hours to explore science and enjoy themselves. Parents can take some rest.
