It may look old to some but there is so much history crammed into this really cool shaped building. Take a good amount of time to look through it all and watch the movies they have playing.
Coming from a family of Active duty military and aeronautic nerds, I have been to more than my share of military museums and air museums. I was impressed with this collection. Much better than I expected after walking around the exhibits in Pioneer Park. If you like airplanes, this is a must visit place in Fairbanks.
This place was really cool because the boys could climb on the some of the aircraft and really check them out. They learned a lot there.
We spent a whole afternoon there, and there was something for the entire family. There is miniature golf for all of us, a little bit of history for the parents, and a nice train ride for the kids. Plus some of the booths sell some really nice hand-made keepsakes.
Small museum for a small town but a very interesting collection well set up. It is worth a visit since you will be at Pioneer Park anyway.
Located in Pioneer Park in Fairbanks, this small attraction is loaded with interesting info regarding Alaska's reliance on air travel, as well as some war history. I enjoyed my visit. Only a very small entrance fee.
This is an amazing museum that deserves a bigger facility with better advertising. For the aviation buff like myself this place is close to heaven. The number of aircraft is kind of limited when compared to the Naval Aviation Museum or NASM in DC but considering this museum is really dedicated more to bush flying than anything else it is a supreme collection of gorgeous, historical aircraft. Many of the aircraft, like the Norduyn Norseman, Piper Cub etc were mainstays of Alaska's bush flying days. There are great exhibits detailing local airlines, the Wiley Post-Will Rogers crash and etc. This museum was one of the highlights of my short time in Fairbanks.
This is an excellent collection of historic flying machines, which are Alaskan treasures. You are up close and personal. If you have questions, just ask. This must be rated as excellent, as there is more to this than first meets the eye. A bit of study and you realize the history here.
Enjoyed the many historic displays, although some areas were cluttered and signage was lacking or in the wrong locations.
Great place for aviation lovers and other visitors to Alaska! This is housed in a round building inside Pioneer Park, also called "Alaskaland" by some locals.
It has a little bit of all of it in there. They have all sorts of items on display and will tell you about all of it if you ask them. It is a self guided tour and that is what makes it unique.
The Pioneer Air Museum is a great place to learn about the history of aviation in Fairbanks and Interior Alaska. There are many interesting displays and complete aircraft to view.
