alyeska pipeline visitor center

I am always visiting the pipeline visitor center because we usually have guests in town. I love taking them here and they love to see it.

Short stop as a pull off along the highway. Very worth it! Super easy to see the pipeline and get some very interesting construction info.

Just a stop off the road...very easy to find.I was actually astonished how easy it is to go right up to it...I don't know if I was expecting guards or fences or what! But it is very interesting and a great place to pull over and read the signs giving the background of the pipeline.My kids kept rolling their eyes at every picture - MOM, it's just a PIPE. Man, they don't get what a feat of engineering this is! Let their eyes roll, I enjoyed it! ;)And by the way, no chance at this old lady breaking the rule on the sign "no climbing."

This is a turnoff on Steese Highway that lets you walk right up to the Alyeska Pipeline. Definitely worth the 5-10 minutes to read the signs and have a look at the pipeline. The exact coordinates (from looking at Google and Bing Maps) are 64.929218, -147.629612.

Very informative. It was also great to go the viewing station near Fairbanks. I was surprised at the size of the pipe. Very large.

This is only a stop on the side of the road where you can walk around a part of the oil pipeline that is above the ground there. A few displays and a couple of information boards and that's about it.

The Alaskan Pipeline is an amazing structure and display of engineering ingenuity. We had seen a model of the structure at the University of Alaska Museum of the North, but the real thing was very different than I had imagined. The information at the stop is educational and interesting and I liked that we could walk right up to the pipeline and view it. An added bonus was that we saw a moose right by the road just after we left the viewing area. This is definitely worth taking the time to stop and check out.

The pipeline is a quick stop right off the highway. In addition to the pipeline there are several informational displays.

I visited the pipeline center for the first time in1995. Every time I go to Fairbanks I stop by. It is so amazing to see. I appreciate all the information available at the center and return with different friends to educate them about the pipeline.

Was a very nice stopping point. Interesting view and history of the Trans Alaska Pipeline running from Prudhoe Bay 800 miles south to Valdez Terminal. Well groomed and pleasant stopping place.

This was the furthest north I traveled with my rental car, and I am really glad I came here. Besides getting a close-up, hands-on opportunity to see and experience the actual pipeline, multiple information boards explain the purpose of the "pigs" that are on display. The parking lot is paved and a paved and concrete sidewalk takes you to the pipeline and the information boards, so everything is handicap accessible.There is plenty of available parking that can handle tour buses and lots of vehicles. A very educational experience that explains a major industrial asset of the State of Alaska. Definitely recommended, especially for students.

The pipeline can be viewed close up here and is quite interesting. It is a quick stop and gives you a lot of info. It is truly an amazing site. You should stop to see this important part of Alaska history and economy, after all you are already there and it is a 30 minute stop. Easy to find and plenty of parking.

Very interesting exhibit at the pipeline. Pipeline is very impressive and large - follow it all the way to Prudhoe Bay!

A real eye-opener, a spectacular feat of engineering. Read the story and marvel at the stats, certainly worth a trip out of Fairbanks to see this if you have the time.

This really isn't a visitor center, its a pipeline access on the side of the road with some informational boards, but it is interesting to see if you can find it. If you try to google it, it will take you somewhere that the pipeline isn't. Check with the visitors center in Fairbanks to figure out where it is. This was in Sept 2014, Once Google updates, it might be correct in the future.
