This small museum is hard to find, but, worth your time. Seeing how this fort has been used including The chair that Elvis used will make your visit worthwhile
We went to the spring festival and it was so educational and enlightening to see the history of the Fort Chaffee era. It was fun and wonderful and if you are an Elvis Presley fan then head here andconvince your hubby, son, boyfriend, or male friend to get an Elvis haircut at the barbershop in the museum!!!
I'm not much of an Elvis fan and don't much figure he was big contribution during his time in uniform but as an avid fan of the Army and history, I truly enjoyed my visit to this museum. The historian let me in and guided me through both buildings. There were several bits of information that I was completely unaware of to include:Who the heck was General ChaffeeCuban immigrants were processed hereWWII German POWs were held hereHow devastating the fire of 2008 was3 movies were filmed hereElvis sorta kinda inprocessed the Army hereI liked this place and recommend it to others.
Well done to honor our veterans. It does recognize Elvis the king, but he is trumped by the displays of our fine veterans of fort Chaffee, don't miss this
visited the museum and it was interesting. Too much about Elvis and not enough about WW2 and Korean war. Need more pictures.
The museum is about the day that Elvis got his hair cut when he entered the army at Fort Chaffee. It was fun watching the video in the barbershop where it happened. Any Elvis fan will love it. In the same building you will find the Museum of Chaffee History. It is a small museum, but very interesting. The base has been used for many things, such as the place where people were sent for housing after the New Orleans hurricane. I was surprised at what I learned.
