It is a wonderful thing when a community joins together to save a bit of history from the wrecking ball. The Lyric Theater is a prime example of what can be achieved. There is so much pride in this little gem. On a recent tour we were astounded to hear the story of the wall murals which were revealed to have been done by an itinerant artist in the early part of the century. It is remarkable that century old hall has been preserved.

I loved the show by Cody Slaughter, but it was so hot in there you could hardly stand it. I don't know how Cody was able to do such a great show in that heat.

Growing up in this area, you can recall the Lyric Theater and all the good times. With several things happening there now, these good times can once again become part of my child's memory.

For a small town, this local theater is hoppin'. Whether it's local folks in a production of "The Sound of Music" or "Sweeney Todd" or a talented musical group or a good movie in an old theater, this place is worth a stop. I have been to several events, and have always been pleased. The architecture is lovely and the atmosphere is a pleasant reminder of a by-gone era.
