I took the scenic route (well, one of the many!) home from Fayetteville and stopped at this viewpoint and shop off of US 71. The view was absolutely lovely. A great spot for photos and very quiet and peaceful. There were some spots along the drive that I thought would probably have been even more beautiful, but they were obscured by trees or the ruins of old motels. There is a shop at Artist Point that sells little knick-knacks. They have some homemade jams that looked quite good. The owner has a humongous cockatoo. I visited with them for a minute--quite nice. Worth a stop for some photos!

I was driving from Fayetteville to Fort Smith and had to stop here when I saw the view.Great view of the mountains and lake far below. It must be incredible in the fall.Because it was early morning I was the only one in the little shop checking out the homemade jellies and things for sale. It just happened to be Election Day so I was able to have a good chat with some folks keeping the voting rolls.

I love rustic artist point, the loud mouth bird, the breathtaking view, the local folk art, homemade jams and preserves. The old Indian Museum is kinda interesting. Arkansas diamonds are priced right. The owner is down to earth and very hospitable. Artist Point and Sky Vue Lodge, near Mountainburg, Chester, Mount Gaylor, Winslow...Absolutely, gorgeous views, especially in the fall. So much so that we moved here over 3 years ago from Tx. Ofcourse, our perception is our reality. I perceive this is God's country. Gayla Wingate of Mount Gaylor Prayer

The trail is currently closed due to someone uncovering a sweat bee nest. The shop owner said after the first frost it should be fine, but I would call first just to make sure! The shop was great but i'll update my rating after I visit the trail.

We enjoyed taking in the amazing view and picking up some snacks, listening and talking to the parrot, and purchasing beautiful souvenirs.

I love the homey ambience and the courteous service. The view out the back window over the valley is breathtaking, and it's just a place to stop a spell, rest, and stock up on jams and jellies.

A truly wonderful view. Right beside the highway. No walking required. Fall colors are breath taking.;No need to go to New England.

My last visit was more than 10 years ago. One of those locations I always wanted to stop at, but we never had the time. So, on my birthday I decided to drive the 2 hours to visit it. I was very dissapointed. It was too wet to hike down the trails, said the owners and the gift shop was almost empty. Everything was very dusty. I hope this has changed hands and is doing better today.

Pretty hot in summer tho. Really any time of year is right for a quick stop.

It was a nice hike down into the valley. A lot of boulders to look at and admire. The natural bridge is pretty awesome. The creek bed was nice although there was no running water in it at the time. My only complaint about the trail was the hike back. The entire hike out was uphill and the vary last stretch is a killer. I'm talking about the 45 degree hillside you have to track up. But it is a nice view at the top (the start of the trail) especially when the leaves are changing and very quiet and peaceful in the valley. I recommend this trail to anyone, but keep in mind of the workout.
