Very nice experience. Saw lots of cool animals although the bear exhibit was closed. We did get to see a penguin feeding and ask questions. Very well maintained and clean.
The zoo is a great place to get away. It seems to be well maintained and plenty of different animals to look at. The zoo cafe was a little pricey but I expected that.
Great place to take children. Not a good idea to go when it is really hot because you will not see many of the animals. Really enjoyed it when my children were small. By far not one of the best zoo's in the United States.
Went to the zoo last weekend because the weather was so nice - my toddler wasn't very impressed. The tigers and monkeys were entertaining, but that was about it. The bears looked depressed. Wish they had more land to expand because it could be a great zoo. Go if looking for something to do in LR with kids.
Several years ago (20), this zoo was much better than it is now. I remember back then, every exhibit was full and I really enjoyed going. However, over the last 10 years, it has gone way downhill in my opinion. There are several missing exhibits, the animals and the exhibits look sad, and it really depresses me to see the zoo in the condition which it is now. I know this place can be so much better and why it is not, baffles me. Unless they completely change this place, I probably will not visit again. Like I said, it's depressing.
Our family loves to visit this zoo. It's close to home a fun thing to do on a nice day in little rock. Not fun in the heat of July and August. Too hot and sticky in these summer months and the smells of the exhibits seem much worse at these times too.
I buy a membership every year so I can go as often as I like. First-time visitors would benefit from someone showing them around and navigating can be confusing. I like to take people to the Lorikeets because you can feed the birds and they will perch on your head and arms! Watching the otters swim is fun and the monkeys are really entertaining.I suggest a membership because if you just go once, you'll miss out on a lot. It's good to visit different times of the day as well because different animals are active during different parts of the day.If you visit the zoo thinking all the animals are going to be outside and performing for you, you will be disappointed. It's better to think of the zoo as a chance for you to observe the animals doing what they naturally do. Pro Tip: Bring quarters so you can feed the fish! Feeding the Koi fish is so much fun!
I have been to the zoo several times over the years and most recently with my grandson. This visit was the most disappointing. Many of the animals were missing and several exhibits were under construction. The penguin exhibit was great and the train is fun. Not as great of a zoo as several we have visited.
A lot of the animals were missing from their exhibits and I'm not sure why. Been to this zoo before and loved it, but I'm from Michigan and the Detroit zoo is better by a long shot.
My family and I visited the Little Rock Zoo over fall break. Entry prices were reasonable. U will need to purchase tokens for the train ride. Lots of neat exhibits. Gorillas and orangutans were fun to watch! Penguin exhibit was our favorite..the are very interactive and kids loved them! Lots of tigers in the exhibit! Jaguar exhibit is still closed. Train ride is a little high priced. $3.00/person for about a 5-7 minute ride. Wish it would loo around the whole zoo. Overall we had fun and will return!
This is our second year to attend the annual spooktacular at the zoo. It was setup almost identical from the previous year. The food vendors had a pleasant variety of foods. There was an entertaining group singing and interacting with the kids. Everything (outside the carrousel) cost tickets ($0.50/ticket). I'm not opposed as the zoo is using this as a fundraiser. Treat tents were 1 ticket per treat. The S'mores tent cost 2 tickets. You did get a milk carton to go along with it. Rides/activities varied from 2 to 8 tickets. The haunted house cost the most at 8. We rode the haunted train for 6 each ($9 total for my family). It was fun last year, but this year they operated the train so fast that you didn't get to see the props very well and it only last about 2 minutes. That was the most disappointing part of our night. They had a DJ and dance area set up with disco balls and laser lights. We danced and had a lot of fun (no cost for this either). Get there early as it only goes from 6-9 pm and there are tons of stuff to do!
Alright visitors to Little Rock Arkansas, there is one attraction that cannot be missed and it's not the Bill Clinton Library. It’s "The Little Rock Zoo“. We were able to see first-hand why people love this attraction. We agree and see why "The Little Rock Zoo" is hands down one of the best zoo's worldwide. First, The Little Rock Zoo is not your average zoo. It's more like a large zoo such as the San Diego zoo in a smaller scale. What we are trying to say is "The Little Rock Zoo" has a lot of bang for your buck, everything and more of what the big zoo's offer . As We arrived, we could not help to be in ah' of the beautiful grounds so well maintained. Then, it's a quick trip through the admission window and off to see and meet all the wonderful animals and exbits. You make your way down well guided paths so you do not miss anything. We are not going to list all animals and exhibits. We are just going to say it's well worth admission and is a very memorable experience. Please visit zoo website for all that is offered. A day at the zoo would not be complete with out a treat of some sort. No worries!! You're covered. The zoo offers great array of eats and snacks. You can also treat your self to a ride on the train and/or carrousel. As your day comes to an end, exit through gift shop for a great souvenir. We have featured zoos all over the nation and international and this zoo was a treat and a pleasure to cover. We honestly hope that "The Little Rock Zoo” are entertaining guests for years to come. In ending, if you're making plans to visit Little Rock, Arkansas, make plans to visit "The Little Rock Zoo".
The animals are obviously well cared for and happy, however, it is one of the smaller zoos I've seen. The cost is reasonable and it's easy to see in half a day.
I've always been a fan of the LR zoo. However, my visit this past weekend was a disappointment. The weather was great so I expected to see a lot of animals. I did get to see the tiger cubs but that was it. My favorite exhibits were under construction which was a huge disappointment. The Zoo needs to post on its website which exhibits are closed or under construction. I will not be back until the Otter and Great Ape exhibits are completed.
This zoo is mediocre at best. The animal exhibits are small. There were SEVERAL that were "under construction". Parking is AWFUL and some sort of planning should be done to improve the parking! We come to Little Rock often, but the zoo will never be part of our trip again, just not worth it. Also, I had to pay (we have a family zoo membership from our local zoo that allows entrance to other zoo's) because I did not have my ID (I left it in my purse in my car because I didn't want to carry my purse around). My boyfriend had his in his wallet and was allowed in, as were my two kids. It just was not with me walking back a mile to the car and get my ID. Just thought it was very tacky of the zoo worker. Never again.
