Went to the Q bath house....loved it! Lot's of options to choose from. Great place to relax!! Had the last appointment of the day and was so relaxed afterward I just wanted to take a nap!
Loved this walk above the bathhouses. Lots of great photo opportunities and great to stretch your legs. Take a look at the hot springs and the bathhouses. Nice little shops on the Main Street too.
We enjoyed the historical aspects of learning about Bathhouse Row and the history of the national park creation. You definitely get the idea that there was a more glamorous time to Hot Springs than what you're currently seeing. The overall Hot Springs area is very shabby and worn down. Luckily, the bathhouses are nicely restored and the video at the visitor center should be seen to get the best idea of the history. We also enjoyed filling up our water bottle to experience some of the famous hot water.
It's amazing to walk down bathhouse row and realize that you are actually walking through a National Park, yet if you cross the street you are just in the town! Each bathhouse has a plaque outside that gives you general information about the house. The Visitor center occupies one while the cultural center occupies another. A couple of the bathhouses are still open as spas while another has been remodeled to a microbrewery. Well worth your time to meander down the magnolia lined sidewalk.
Great job of preserving what was once the western edge, international destination or our history. Stayed at the Arlington. Another piece of history. The restraunts on Bathhouse Row are excellent as well as the Ohio Club and Maxines. Lots of great, friendly people. Made several friends there to the point of visiting their homes ever. Hot Springs has all the other essentials for a great vacation getaway, including the Oaklawn. Great for couples or families. I have been there several times and always enjoy the history.
The entire time we were in Hot Springs I felt like I was in an episode of a well executed TV show. They have done a great job of revitalizing the area and providing historical details to visitors. It is not glamorous but certainly something fun to lear more about.
My boyfriend and I walked down Bathhouse Row for a bit after leaving the Buckstaff Bathhouse. It seemed to be very nicely preserved and was beautiful if you are into history or architecture. If you have the time, a stroll in this area is recommended.
We were very impressed with the restoration that has taken place on Bathhouse Row. Both my husband and I enjoyed the Quapaw spa experience. And the historical guided tour at Fordyce. We highly recommend both.
We really enjoyed the bathhouses, especially the National Park restored houses. We took the tour of the open bathhouse and enjoyed the fabulous treatments at the 1920s style bath house. It was fantastic to see what it was like 100 years ago!
I always love visiting Bathhouse Row when I'm in Hot Springs. It's about two blocks long and it's an interesting walk, looking at these amazing old buildings. When I first visited years ago, there were only a few being used. Now, I'm glad to see a large portion of these old bathhouses are being used. It was a shame to see them sit vacant! They now have a park store, a museum, three different bath experiences, and a brewpub.
If you need to be in Hot Springs for Work - then Bathhouse Row is something to do to kill time. To be honest - there just isn't a lot there to see, to do, or places to eat. I was hoping to find some lovely antique stores - and didn't. The few in town are way over priced. You can tell that Hot Springs was in its glory in the 1890s and possibly in the 1950s - 1970s. Its just run down and not a lot going on. Seeing the historic bathhouses is nice - but not even close to worth the drive. The nearby mountains and national park is pretty but once again, not worth the drive. However - would drive back just to go to that crystal mining place outside of town. If you like gems, rocks, geology - its worth the drive.
We had a great time walking this historic street. It very quite interesting. The bathhouses were beautiful and extremely well preserved.
Make sure to visit the visitors center (its a gem) and at least one of the operating bathhouses, and the superior brew house.
What a great experience to imagine the history of this town. The area is well maintained and is still a work in progress. Clean, nice part of town and easy walking for everyone. Each bath house was unique and had a story to tell. There is also a park area behind the bath houses and plenty of green space, Magnolia trees on the walk and just lovely to experience.
It is hard to imagine what this area must have been like at the turn of the century. I wish it was economical for more renovation and restoration to take place. There are 2 working bath houses left and it looks like work is being done on several more.
