Holt Hill, Boston Hill and Shrub Hill make up this reservation. All types of terrain good for walking, light hiking and mountain biking. Don't miss the bog or the views of Boston from the crest of the hills. The best signage on trails we've see. This is a Trustees of Reservations property and is free to all.
Well marked and well maintained trails. Many trails of varying lengths. Great views. A good place to go if you have only an hour of time or more. Parking at trail head. It is free. Closes at dusk
Amazing view from the top of the Hill, fabulous trails and sledding tracks... And as it was mentioned before - very few people... Let's keep this secret place for a quite walk with family...
You can see Boston from the top of the hill. Nature at its best in New England for glorious hikes. Conveniently located in Andover. Do not miss this jewel.
Love the place for hiking the blue trail is really nice. The view to downtown of Boston from this place is really nice.
Fabulous old roads and trails from hundreds of years ago (1600's) with view of Boston from the top on Holt Hill and Boston Hill. Amazing secret close to Boston and 495 and 93. And very few people were there! Ssh....don't tell them!
A great place to take a hike, especially for those who are not seasoned hikers! We took our 2 dogs up to the solstice stones and enjoyed the view. Can't wait to go again!
There are acres of maintained trails through woodlands and bogs culminating in gorgeous views of the Boston skyline. Great for walks in all seasons, including winter for XC skiing or snowshoeing. It's a photographer's dream.
Ward Reservation is one of the better places in Essex County to walk, hike and mountain bike. While everyone goes to the Solstice stones for good reason, the rest of the reservation is quite extensive and worth exploring.
A nice place to stroll. Dog friendly. Great view of Boston at solstice stones at top. Goto place for me and the kids. Also has a nice bog walk.
For a quick hike, go straight up the road past the water tower to the solstice stones at the top of the hill where you can see as far as Boston (Pru tower on a clear day), or down to the boardwalk area by the water. Trail maps are available for longer hikes. There are a couple of cabins in ruin and other historical landmarks of interest. Dogs are allowed (on leash), so this is a popular place for dog-walkers.
From the top of the hill you can see the sky line of Boston. A steep paved road brings you to the top. A very short distance. Many trails to hike in the woods.
A treasure North of Boston. Ticks are abundant so take precautions. The high bog is an interesting natural feature.
The Ward Reservation has great hiking trails, ponds and views of Boston.
I love the views from both hills and the fact that the hiking is challenging with the two hills but not rough like in the White Mountains. I love the Whites too, and this trail is a good warm-up for WMNF hiking. I also love that it's so close to my home in Andover.
