Played here in a public shotgun. $35 for 18 holes with a cart! That would be a decent deal for any course. Given the conditions and layout of this course, it's an exceptional value! It's not always that cheap but even at their regular rates, this course is a great place to play. A couple of other courses near me are in rough shape with lots of brown patches in the fairways. Not here! Nice and green and plush from tee to green. (The greens are tough but fair). Carts are in great condition. Not broken down jalopys like at some courses. And if you want to walk and rent a pull cart, they have some of the nicest pull carts I've ever seen. True, links style golf in Massachusetts!
After playing here a few times I made it my local course (keep my GHIN there, play there a lot, take some lessons, etc). The course is well designed (Silva) and played from the right tees it is fun and fair. Fairways and greens are kept in very good shape for a muni that gets a lot of play. The new clubhouse is now open, the trailers are gone and everything looks nice. Good bar area for after the round. The public practice facility is average (range mats, some targets) but the private range is great. For about $295/year (April - October) you can hit balls from grass tees to 7 targets, chip, pitch, and use the sand practice area. I use it to practice, take lessons, and to warm up before rounds. Discounts on tee times for 02324 residents. Weekend rounds can be slow but weekdays are great. Just make sure there's no league play kicking off around 3 or 4 that day.
If you can hit them straight, you will be rewarded. If your shots stray a little of course, you will pay a heavy price.
