The exhibits here are interactive and our now 3 yr old twin grandkids love it (we have fun too!). It is always clean and things are kept in working order. They do a great job here!
First visit. We have a 3-yo and 2-yo daughters. We got there early on a Saturday and not many people were there. This is really an indoor playground. Our daughters loved it. It is very safe and very clean. Once it started to get busy that is where we became uneasy. Not because of the place but because of other parents/families not monitoring their children. This is not a reflection on the place. We did think it was a little pricey but will go back because of the kids.
This was my first visit to this museum and I will surely be back/recommend it to others! I'm from CT where we are lucky enough to have many great museums and play areas for children but this one was just as close, and just as great, as some of the others. A tad but pricey at $7 per person regardless of age, but we truly got our money's worth. I had a 1 and 3 year old with me and they had so much fun playing at all the exhibits, especially the water table and air area that they didn't want to leave. The staff was very friendly and loved how there were so many exhibits and props for the children to learn about and play with. If you bring a lunch or snack, there's a beautiful little park that the museum is located on so that's another great part to utilize!
I love this museum! It is very hands on and kids get to touch everything, climb and explore, play dress up, build something with huge foam shapes, "drive" a forklift or an ambulance, "shop" at a grocery store, "cook" a meal, have fun with shadows, play in the water, etc., etc. It's a wonderful place for a kid to be a kid! If you have a Big Y card or a Triple A card, bring it with you - there is a discount offered for having one of these cards. Plan on spending a few hours! My grand daughter loves it there!
We took our granddaughter to this museum on a cloudy day and she had the best time playing with the bubble machine, trying on firemen's outift and playing with the boat and other toys in the water with the waterfall. She love going up on the high net enclosed play area with the daddy. She played for a long time and then it was time to go for lunch. I would recommend this museum to those with children. We had a library pass so it was cheaper.
We used this as our break on a long trip and it was perfect for my two girls, ages 7 & 8. The facility is well cared for and clean. The climbing area kept my girls going for close to an hour. They spent the rest of the time delivering the mail, putting out fires, making giant bubbles, and running a restaurant. It was just what we needed.
I've been a few times and if I didn't work I would consider getting a yearly pass - I could easily take my 3 year old once a week - there is a good variety of things to do (grocery store, restaurant, dress ups/theatre, postal service (you deliver mail to each of the other locations), vet center, ambulance, water table, climbing structure, and many more. Perfect place for 3 year olds. It is also right next to the Carousel/Merry-Go-Round in Holyoke so you can go on before or after if it's open. We parked on the street - $1 for 2 hours. The museum offers discounts for AAA, Big Y cards, military - check their website.
This museum is wonderful for very young children. There is a large water table area, a huge crawling/climbing structure, a bubble table, magnets, foam blocks, an ambulance with heart monitor, a shadow room, a post office, etc. lots of fun, very low key, with friendly helpful staff. A great time for kids up to about age 8 or 9.
Take your kids here on a rainy day. Let them run around, play in the fake buildings, and climb all over the maze, Burn off the energy they have stored up.
I finally took my two young children to this museum. I had heard various things. First, it's in a not so good part of town. Sad but a reality... Also parking is not abundant. Some street spots. I would recommend parking near the Heritage Park Merry go Round on Appleton St which has a lot--also next to the police station. Back to the museum-- it's one floor so maybe 10 different things to do? My kids loved it. It's slightly worn down. Reminded me of a day care center in some ways. Not sure why. The water table area and ambulance station are the best. After the museum we walked over to the merry go round. This was the best part of the day. We didn't expect to ride it but we're pleasantly surprised when it was open. The museum was something to do but next time we are making the drive to Hartford for the Science Museum.
This is a nice museum but a bit over-crowded on a Sunday afternoon. There's a nice climbing area reminiscent of Children's museum in Boston. There are a variety of other hands on activities like water table, ambulance, veterinary, super market, lego table, pretend news anchor, fire station, and more. Its all a bit tightly packed and one our particular day there were loads of children vying for each activity. It might be nicer if a bit less packed.
Brought my friends son for an afternoon and he did not want to leave. generally speaking he get board, but not here!
I have been bringing my grandchildren to this museum for years, and have a seasons pass. All the hands on things to do are great. I have seen the museum go through a metamorphosis through the years but I think it's the best it's ever been. Love the curvy crawler, the water area, where the kids can play with floating objects ,pushing down stream, take a ride on an ambulance , blow gigantic bubbles, have fun in the shadow room(my favorite), play postman, grocery shop, watch yourself on tv, it's endless. You can also have a birthday party there. I usually take the kids to the Merry Go Round next door for a ride first, at Heritage State Park, and also park there. The museum has many programs and activities for the kids throughout the year, and works in conjunction with the state park and the merry go round. I believe it is $6 pp to get in. Worth it. Enjoy!
It had lots of different areas for the children to use their imagination and play with others. There were large motor and small motor areas and they had a special area just for the toddlers so they wouldn't get hurt by the older children. It a place my child will come out of her shell.
What a great museum to take kids to! And it is near the Carousel. They have some great learning tools here and the kids love it.
