Thank you for taking time to give us your feedback on the Munroe Tavern tour. We are sorry that your experience did not exceed your expectations. Please enjoy a free tour on us when you are back in town so that we can tell you more about the British perspective. tours@lexingtonhistory.org

We bought the "First Shot" tour package allowed access into the Buckman Tavern, Hancock -Clarke House, and Munroe tavern ($12 for all 3 versus $7 each house individually). The Munroe Tavern is a short drive from the Visitors Center. The Munroe Tavern has a brief video followed by a guided tour. Interesting to see some of the British military uniforms in one of the rooms as well as hear that George Washington dined on the second floor. A local garden club does a nice job maintaining the garden outside.

Visited the 3 Museums in Lexington and this was by far the best. Pat Costello was a great docent - very informative and very witty. (even managed to outwith my husband - after receiving permission from me to do it!) Pat was very knowledgeable about her subject and also gave us some insight into the other museums we had visited. She really was able to keep my interest. Wish all docents were more like her.

This tavern present the British point of view and a history of red coats. It also has some history of George Washington's visit and a small garden outside. The staff was great and the gift shop had some interesting items. Although it is not set up entirely like a tavern from the day, it is worth checking out.

Beautiful gardens, well preserved house. Female guide in period dress was very knowledgeable. You can get a close-up look at British "red coat" uniforms and learn how the house was briefly taken over by the British and used as a field hospital. Good audio enactments and film intro too. If you are in Lexington you should see this, especially in the summer.

Thank you for the kind review! The Munroe Tavern was recently restored and that allows us to have the comfortable air conditioning.

Thank you for visiting the Munroe Tavern and our other properties. You may be pleased to know that we recently amended our photography policy and now allow photography inside all three historic buildings. I hope that you can visit us again sometime and take some photos!

My sister and I took a break from visiting Lexington Open Studios a recent rainy Sunday to enjoy afternoon tea at Munroe Tavern. The setting was delightful, the staff so welcoming, the tea perfect, and the hot scone out of this world! I had passed the "Open for Tea" sign many times, and am so glad I finally dropped in for this delightful break. I highly recommend you do so, too, either when you visit the historical Tavern, or like us on this particular day, just for Afternoon Tea!

Hello! We are sorry that you were not able to see the Munroe Tavern on May 8th - we always enjoy hosting descendents at the Tavern. The Tavern is open on weekends only 12-4 until Memorial Day. Thereafter, we are open 7 days a week through October. We are, however, always able to book private tours anytime of year. If you are ever back in our area, please give us a call (781-862-0295) and we will give you a complimentary private tour of the Tavern.

Nice intro film on the Battle of Lexington from the British perspective. Very interesting tavern from the 1700s; guide was dressed in period garb; very knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide; great artifacts
