This is a beautiful park. I have been going there for over 40 years. Unfortunately the best subject for pictures, the mill building and stream/gorge below, is severely overgrown with trees and saplings. There is absolutely no view from below. The rest of the park is well taken care of but I was very disappointed.
This park is beautiful with green walkways, a beautiful pond, semi covered bridge and so much to see. Great place to bring the whole family and take photographs. I love to sit by the pond and waterfall and just read a book and enjoy the scenery.
The state park had a super beautiful nature which is really worth visiting. Just, if the facilities (like visitor center and restrooms) were more developed, it could be an even better experience.
Moore state Park has some lovely trails , a waterfall and an old structure...all worth seeing and taking photographs of. I was with a group of photographers and there were many foto ops.
If you go when flowers are in bloom you can see beautiful foliage while on your walk. Pick one of several trails depending on how long you'd like to explore. Plenty nice grass throughout some of the trails to have a picnic... So make sure to bring your picnic basket! Our dog loves coming here too. Just make sure to clean up after yours so we can all enjoy the beauty of Moore State Park!
This park has beautiful walks and an interesting past. Even people who can't do strenuous walking or parents pushing strollers will find some nice activity here. This is a great place to take your kids; they'll love the old stone building foundations of a lost village. For an activity, you could have them draw a map of the foundation shapes, then draw in their ideas of what the buildings might have looked like 150 years ago. Grass is kept mowed on walking areas, so you don't have to worry so much about ticks here. Very peaceful!
Beautiful trails that are mostly flat, easy for all ages and perfect for a short walk for easily bored kids and a longer walk for adults of all ages. Never crowded.
Please keep your dog on leash at all times. I know it's tempting when it looks like there isno one else around. I have several times had large dogs run up at me and, having beentwice attacked and bitten by dogs as a teenager (lots of plastic surgery), I am cautious.I don't like a strange (usually large) dog rush up and jump at me when I don't know them, while meantime the owner hasn't caught up to the dog to control it. Nothing against dogsor dogs walking in the park. I believe the rule is that they must be on leash at all times. Thanks for your consideration. I'm not the only person who feels this way. The owner isbehind, not with the dog, so there is no one to control it. It's sad but people are bittenand hurt by dogs at times so if it's a strange dog I feel scared and it hinders the enjoyement and peace of my walk. Thank you. I don't think we have any dog parks in the areafor no leash yet, but maybe by contacting the state you could request a special one.
This is a very beautiful state park. It is very serene. Great walking trails, beautiful view of the lake w/seating, & a great place to take pictures or just enjoy the beauty of nature. Have been many times & every time family or friends visit, this is a nice place to take them. Lots of flowers in the Spring, lots of foliage in the Fall.
Great place for a walk from just strolling to a bit of a hike. Pretty when all of the bushes are blooming. Plenty of parking. And there are public restrooms (important for us older people).
very pretty park. perfect for picnics and children! nice waterfall to look over; at night-- reports / pictures of hauntings, makes it very intriguing!
I have gone up to Moore State Park to photograph the area. It has several vantage points where you can take some great photos. When the azaleas are in bloom in late spring, when it is starting to freeze in early winter and it is also a good place to take senior portrait photos. It is also close to the Black and White restaurant so you can grab something to eat while in the area.
I like the fact that a large part of this park is paved and the landscaping is also beautiful and very relaxing. There's also plenty of well marked trails through the woods.
I enjoyed taking a nice stroll down the paved road, that lead to a covered bridge over looking a beautiful pond. The scenery was very peaceful, and I was very fortunate to be able to sit in one of the two wooden chairs provided. After taking in the calmness, I continued to explore the park, walking further down the path, encountering two waterfalls. The size of the park is just right, especially for those who typically don't get out and walk that often. The main drawback of this park, has to be the small unpaved parking lot.
Plenty of parking, paved walkway and adriondack chairs await you at Moore State Park. You'll want a camera whether it's to photograph the old mill or pond. Perfect place to wander whether by yourself, with a group or with little kids.
