Everyone should try to visit the Plantation. It is a true representation of how the Pilgrims lived along side of the native Americans. The movie is an excellent introduction to the village where costumed interpreters speak as if they were in that era.. It is very well done.
For those visiting and even those that live near. Plimouth Plantation is an excellent full day of education, history sights, smells and sounds for all who are able to walk more than a short distance. Well worth the price of admission. You can bring your own food or purchase food there.Plan on spending many hours learning what it was like for the first settlers. Make sure to interact with the actors portraying the pilgrims and the Indians. Fun and educational for young and old.An experience for all at least once in a lifetime. Welcome to America's Hometown.
Located on a pond on a hill overlooking Plymouth Bay. Very expensive for what is offered. If you are a history lover, you might like it. However this is not the original site of the Pilgrims' settlement. Futhermore it is very hot at P.P. in the summer, bring lots of water to drink.
A wonderful travel back in time just minutes form downtown Plymouth. This museum offers a great movie to start you out on your journey. Next you get to walk through old Plimoth. The whole town is alive; from the homes where actual meals are prepared on open fires by "pilgrims" to the lifestock, the gardens, etc. You can engage the "inhabitants" in any conversation and they will eagerly respond and answer any question you may have true to the character they represent. Follow the trail and you will end up in the Wampanoag village, where lots can be learned and observed about native American life.
An absolute must see living working history museum. Just a few minutes south of the other major attractions in Plymouth and across the street from State beach.
We have been to the plantation several times in the past...the first time 32 years ago. The last time 3 or 4 years ago and we were drawn into the "drama". I love history and found this enthralling. It is a great learning experience for children as they participate in the action and learn with out realizing they are doing so. This is a must for you to see!!P.S. I have to put in a date so I did, but it was 2 or 3 years ago
What a great place. So interesting being able to talk to the people on the plantation and see how life was lived back then. Found out that most of what we learned in school was wrong. I was part of a coach tour, so we only had a morning to look round, but I think a whole day wouldn't be too long. My best piece of advice would be, talk to everyone you come across. Also, the gift shop was one of the best we saw on the whole trip.
Plimoth Plantation is a great place to learn about the native peoples and their interactions with the English settlers. The living history aspect of the Plantation is exceptional and engaging with the actors who represent the various individuals of that era helps bring their story to life. Definitely worth seeing.
Best Living History Museum ever! Be sure to include a visit to Plimoth Plantation. It's an amazing, memorable experience.
One of my favorite places to visit while in Massachusetts. Full of interesting things to do and see.The actors stay in character at all times while playing the pilgrim parts. If you like history, nature, and beautiful scenery this is the place. Really enjoyed it!
I come here a lot for the movies at Plimoth Cinema and the addition of a 2pm matinee is wonderful. Their gift shop is like no other, you can spend hundreds or just a few dollars and be really pleased. Love to walk around the grounds and enjoy the animals & botanicals. The replica village is really worth doing as you only then realize what the new comers had to endure & learn how the native americans lived during that period is very educational. Drop by just to walk the gardens & be one with nature, see a movie, shop, have a bite a the small eatery & if you have the time - go back in time to the Village...!! Enjoy
The entire visit was informative and having both sides of the story told by the early settlers and Indians brought to light some interesting facts about our early history. You must visit to discover an unusual fact presented at the beginning of the visit.
It was a wonderful experience to visit Plymouth, Massachusetts, and especially to take a walk through Plimoth Plantation. If you have children or grandchildren, take them to see this re-creation of the village where original Americans lived. The staff who work there are dressed in appropriate period costumes and will only answer your questions as the pilgrim they portray. It is a wonderful experience!
Taking visiting family or friends to the Plantation is always on the list of things to do. Try to avoid school trip days as the experience can be overwhelming, but every age gets something out of this visit and it really is important to take a moment and imagine how it was.
No matter what age, we all had fun and an educational experience. I highly recommend for children in grade school learning about the Pilgrims journey. I do wish they had authentic food available for tasting out in the display areas but I do understand they legally cannot.
