My friends and I go to watchusett every Monday there's no lines and the people there are very friendly it's a great family mountain and they do a great job grooming the mountain.
I love this local ski center. It is very well laid out, family friendly, and has good variety for beginner skiers. There are even greeters in the parking lot with stickers for the kids. One time when my son fell down at the base area, there was a woman with one of the blue jackets right there helping him up before I even could. As a new skier (in my 40's) myself, our family has been to lots of mountains recently with my excited 7 year old. I really felt Wachusett was just as good as Breton Woods or Cranmore for the beginner skier and family. Great lodge with Starbucks, huge store, lots of area for gear. Thank you for a great spot 1 1/2 hours from Boston. And what a Boston winter we have had. The ski conditions may be better than Colorado even, but don't tell them I said that!
Hello "Yastillgotit" and thank you for your recent feedback on TripAdvisor. We have recently updated our website and signage to be sure our rental and demo policy is more clear to our guests. Our rental skis, bindings and boots are preset to work together as a system, which is why we don't allow customer boots to be paired with the rental skis. We are sorry you experienced any inconvenience here at the mountain and appreciate your comments as they help us to continually improve upon the guest experience. If you send your contact info to Web@Wachusett.com we'd like to offer you a complimentary demo day to make up for it. Thank you again and we look forward to having you back to give us another try.
What a great day! My daughter took lessons and I skied. It was excellent. This spot never disappoints.
Great little mountain with close proximity to my home. I am a low intermediate skier and this mountain offers exactly what I am looking for in a ski area. The restaurant and bar could use some better upkeep.
Wachusetts may be smaller than the big NH, VT, ME mountains, but it is close by. You can ski in the morning and get to work for the evening shift. the trails are groomed well and the snow making, especially when needed in the early season, is fantastic. The staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Their Demo Program is a great way to try a bunch of new skis before you buy!
We visited for the first time and spent two days with our 13 and 14 yr old sons. They had three lessons and three excellent instructors. The chairlifts ran smoothly, the slopes were well groomed and the crowd was ideal for beginners. We were very impressed with the cleanliness and newness of all areas of the resort. The staff we encountered parking, rentals, food and shops were mature, friendly and service-oriented. We will be back and ...soon! Thanks for a great family getaway!
We had never skied at Wachusett even though it's only about an hour and a half away. Tried it with our grandchildren and everyone loved it. Trails are great, snow was wonderful (this year they haven't had to make any, but they have the capability to make lots), lifts are fast and well-organized.The lodge is beautiful, nicer than some of the larger areas in NH and Vermont, and the food it outstanding. Parking is easy, staff thru out the resort are exceptionally nice. We will definitely ski there again!
Wachusett is fun for all ages. I am happy to recommend it. Waa waa chipsets! :). Take the kids and go
27 trails, 5 lifts were open, great conditions. Wonderful lodge, people were so nice!! If you book your tickets online, it is cheaper. you can also pay an extra $5 for an all terrain slope with jumps. Kids had a blast and loved the food at the lodge as well
My daughter has been learning to snowboard here. The instructors for private lessons have been great. It's a very easy mountain, but is extremely affordable and about an hour from most major towns and cities in Boston area. When you are already commuting 2-3 hours per day, it's awesome to go somewhere easy. Kevin R. and Marina have been favorites for lessons. The employees are what have really made this a great experience. They are, almost without fail, friendly and polite. Sure, some of the other mountains may be bigger, but for an every weekend drive, this really works for us.
Yes, it's pretty compact and uninterested for an experienced skier, but for busy person from Boston suburban with wife-novice in skiing - this is the best place to be for night skiing. Short driving time, well-prepared slopes, fast-moving lines (I never was in line longer than 10 minutes at night) - it's like your local Y.
We stop by on our way up to Loon for a night ski. Great little mountain. I would highly recommend for family outing or for teaching new people. Great customer service and the price was fair.

Took 4 children (10, 9, 7 & 6) for their first ski/snowboarding experience yesterday including a 1.5 hour lesson in the polar kids ski program for the 6 & 7 year old and a 1.5 hour snowboarding lesson with the Artic aces program for the 9 & 10 year old.Pros: Close to home so driving time to mountain minimal. Decent snow conditions thanks to vast snowmaking. Fairly good value given the lesson & rental price. Kids really enjoyed Artic aces program and snowboarding instructor (Justin) was great.Cons: Staff seemed a bit disorganized when we first arrived especially in the ski rental area. Polar kids instructor seemed to not have the best disposition for working with the younger kids. Due to the grouping, the 6&7 year old were placed in a group with much younger children and therefore, because the instructor was alone, the oldest who was ready to ride the magic carpet could not due to the fact that the youngest children were too young to use it. Overall, I'd say it was ok given the relatively low cost of the program. However, the youngest in my group had a terrible time and has no desire to return. To be fair, that could have happened regardless given that this was her first time but I can't help but wonder if the instructors personality plus the particular age grouping played a part (the instructor spent much of the time holding the hands of the youngest 2 in his group.). I would definitely recommend for somewhat older kids but I'm not convinced that they are well equipped to deal with the youngest skiers/riders.
