my3sons and others have covered pretty much everything.Buggy in May/June.A little steep of an incline. Can be slippery on wet leaves. You need to go down a bit to see the different stages, its a nice total package waterfall, the easiest to get to of the three in Royalston, (you can park at the top or the bottom. You can also go to Tully Lake and walk around the falls. No swimming anymore....tow current and rocks have taken too many lives.Winter has nice ice formations, Spring has the most water, Fall is beautiful, Summer is a pleasant hike. Can get a little busy some weekends, but most times you can relax on the rocks and just soak up nature.Warning, bathrooms are porta-potties at Tully Lake about 2 miles from the top. There are NO GAS stations or dunkin doughnuts in Royalston. NOTE: Head on up to the center of Royalston for a nice historical town setting.

A hidden gem right in your own backyard. Either hike around Tully Lake or take the short, handicapped accessible trail to see these wonder falls. Awesome year round but best in Spring (high flow), Fall (leaf colors) and Winter (Ice formations). In winter traction (micro-spikes, crampons or snowshoes) is a must... Spend the weekend and stay at the Tully Lake Campground, only a shout jaunt from the falls and canoe or kayak... As another reviewer mentioned, Royalston (short drive) and Spirit (hike) Falls are nearby...

The falls have always been amazing. But, only as an adult returning to the place years later did I see it. I feel lucky to of been able to swim here while it was legal. Bring your camera and take lots of photos. The other side of the bridge has a nice view too. Spring has the most violent waters be cautious of footing. The paths are not as maintained as they once were you'll take a leap into white water rapids from quite a height. I DO NOT suggest walking the falls with kids with safety issues or understanding of walking slow and again cautiously. Age range in my opinion would be a mature age six no less. The railings are missing too in places you'd think would have them.PRO: beautiful nature trail unlike any around. Also, it's free!CON: bugs the small gnats in summer. You'll run away without bug spray. Steep walking with bad footing and railings out of date or missing. You can't swim here.

So, I decided I wanted to shoot some waterfalls this summer and this is my first. Was a nice day trip and my dog had a blast. I am even thinking of going back and doing some camping at the Tully Campground.

Very nice hiking from the Tully Lake campground, 0.5 miles. The weather was perfect and our 4 year-old son enjoyed it a lot! Definitely worth the hike.

What an excellent town to visit. It is like going back in time, quaint and no stores, everything is beautiful and very old. As for Doane's, there are 2 more falls that are just as wonderful. Royalston Falls and Spirit Falls. All are well worth the time for a family day trip and picnic, Doane's. for the picnic if you have kids.

Was a great hike, awesome falls right here in MA! Some steep parts. Was very buggy in June! Nice view from the top of the hill!

See three falls in half a mile on a 4% grade. Watch the little ones, though. Only rope rails on the cliff sides.

A wonderful hike, plenty of parking, quiet and very clean. Due to the dangerousness of the falls they are corded off so you can not go up to them, but I do wish they would trim back the trees from the trails so you can get clear views of the waterfalls. It is a shame to hike out there and get a view cluttered wit overgrown and fallen trees.

We heard about the nice hiking trail and the waterfalls at Doane's Falls and decided to take a trip there. We were not disappointed with the wonderful waterfalls and clean hiking trails. The water was refreshing and the views were well worth the trip. You can hike for an hour or five minutes and still be alongside the water. Some of the falls were very high and serene.

A great place to hike to (especially if staying at Tully Lake campground), the falls are three consecutive falls, each one further away from the road/campground. Highly recommend the Falls, a beautiful walk and great woods!

FuntimeFoodie

The falls are 'universally accessible' via a trail from the main road and are a fun diversion for small visitors!

We all grew up recklessly jumping the falls here. I don't recommend it as there have been fatalities but the falls are quite stunning and a quick, easy hike to the base.
