Not a lot going on here but the train car(s) painted in circus colors is a fabulous backdrop for portraits of the beautiful girls in your life. Capturing your kids climbing on the colorful behemoth will also be terrific, pro-looking shots that will end up strong contenders for the Christmas card image.

One of those small museums that continues on due to the dedication of a small band of enthusiasts, be sure to take the (very short) trolley ride, and explore the several displays in the old depot. It's all interesting, and the docents are full of information and want to share it. OK, it's not cool, perhaps, but it's fun for young and old, and very much within your budget.

It's not big, it's not fancy, but it is interesting and the people working there were about as friendly as one could be. We enjoyed ourselves. Reasonably priced. Kids enjoyed the push cart and trolley ride. Workers were so friendly and accommodating. If in the area, I recommend a stop here. Help support local small businesses like this that keep the past alive.

I feel that very young kids or history buffs would like this. It is very small and the ride you get is short. But the people are very knowledgeable and informative.

This is a very kid friendly place, and fortunately we had a 5 year old boy with us. Our sweet niece introduced us to this great place. No, it's not Disney-fied, but it is just the right size for a kid to run a couple of electric trains, adults to look a photos of the good old days and ride a beautiful, authentically restored 1896 trolley and even pump a handcar up the track. With a maximum $ 4.00 all day pass ($2 for under 12 and free for under 6 years old), you can see more of the loving attention to detail provided by a host of volunteers

This museum is a nice leg stretcher stroll up the hill from the Bridge of Flowers and the Fudge Factor shop. The museum is free, and has pictures and information highlighting the history of trolleys in Shelburne Falls and surrounding area. A beautifully restored trolley car provides a short ride with friendly staff who share the history of trolley and its place in the town's history. Your $4 ride ticket also allows for a ride on the pump car, where 3 people can join a staff member in pumping the car down the track for a fun ride. On the day we visited, we could show our ride ticket to get a chocolate coin at the Fudge Factor shop, an added bonus! In combination with time spent at the Bridge of Flowers, Glacial Potholes, visiting shops & restaurants, enough here for a delightful day trip from the Springfield area.

Bill Cosby lives nearby. Robert Downey Jr. just filmed scenes for a new movie. Yes, Shelburne Falls, also called the 'Heart Chakra of North America' is C-O-O-L with old-time charm and glorious geography (think Glacial Potholes). Imagine Rod Serling's Twilight Zone episode about the train ride back to Willoughby. Plus the original rail cars. The Trolley Museum, and its annual open house, afford train lovers young and old a short, friendly visit back in time with photos and historical material and, if you're very lucky, the chance to take a slow, leisurely jaunt up and down a short stretch of rail in one of its restored cars. If you think you have complaints on the MetroNorth into Manhattan, or a short delay by Amtrak? A visit here will remind that how once upon a time, traveling by rail in the winter meant your warmth -- and fellow passenger -- was a cast iron wood stove. How far we've come in creature comforts! But for a quick trip back in time, to a quaint city that the cosmopolitan have begun to discover, stop by Shelburne Falls and its volunteer-run trolley museum.

Small museum and trolly ride is a few hundred feet and back on a track. Like what they are trying to do but space is limited for them. Hopefully they can find more space somehow.

We discovered the delightful town of Shelburne Falls, with its artisan galleries, the potholes, restaurants and the Bridge of Flowers. What most folks don't know is the Bridge was built for a trolley, and that very same 114 year old trolley is running a short walk from the Bridge of Flowers at the Shelburne Falls Trolley MuseumWe found the signs at the end of the bridge directing us up the hill. What a treasure ! Car Number 10 that ran across the Bridge is restored and operating beautifully. Our $3 ticket gave us unlimited rides, access to other railroad displays, the museum showing period pictures of the town and Trolley, plus a ride on an old fashion pump car.The ride is about 15 minutes and well worth the short walkWe especially liked that our kids could ride free, and the museum volunteers were very friendly and knew a lot about the towns history
