mystic river reservation

There's a perfect cycling route from Somerville or Medford, right along the river, with plenty of distractions along the way, including this reservation.

This is a great place for bike riding. Close to Boston, great parking next to the State Police Headquarters. Accessible from route 16. The ride around the Mystic River reservation is about 3 miles. Most are paved which are excellent if you just want to jog or walk. Ideal for parents that want to train kids in their bicycles. No hill inclines, and great views of the river and Boston. Many places to stop, and you can end up at Assembly Square Mall, and have coffee (starbucks) or just eat something lite.

I am visiting my son who lives in Arlington with the Mystic River as a boundary. It is a beautiful meandering river with well shaded walk ways popular with joggers and geese. People with boats are on the river enjoying summer with the family. On top of it a bus ride or a cup of coffee are just 10 minutes away!

it's so calm and peaceful, a little slice of widreness nestled in the city. Really good rates on boatrentals too

It isn't a place that you walk to, but it is a great walk, with a great view of Boston and very outdoorsy. Unfortunately, it is on a busy highway, but if you go by the river, it's peaceful.

Great place to walk your dog or just relax in park land!
