This place would have been great if they didn't put up a big iron gate in front of the mine! The trail itself is a little over a mile long, and is very quiet and peacful. I didn't ding it to one star review because there are a few spots that you can explore off of the trail where you can see the rocks cut from early mining. Luckily, BT's Smokehouse was nearby so it made the long trip out to Sturbridge worth it. If you like BBQ, you should give this place a try.
I have been hiking this for many years and it is a great place to bring the family and hike through. At the beginning there is a old mine shaft that you can go into. If you look close enough you can see bats hanging on the walls! As you go on the trails there are some collapsed mines that you can explore as well. There is always wildlife to be seen if you are quiet enough. Overall amazing place to hike!!
Fun hike for all. There is a graphite mine shaft here. It's not very deep and is a dead end at the beginning of the trail. A very pretty walk and plenty of rocks for the kids to climb on. During hunting season, remember to wear bright colors!!
