You would be surprised at what is available at the Library, much more than books.... tapes, cd's, movies discount and free tickets to attractions in the area... as shows and exhibits...... even a nice clean rest room. Stop by for a library card and guess whay there FREE!

This is the library I went to as a child. I can still recall the smells that sometimes waft up from the old underground basement. The wooden staircases with the oak bannisters and the granite front steps but alas I digress...it's a library and a nice one. You can find many things here to check out, but they are networked with numerous others so you can request holds from the convenience of you computer and go pick them up when they are ready.One recent downside is that a lot of the city's homeless have been utilizing the building for a warm shelter and while they have every right to be there if they are using the library resources, there have been some issues with so many people congregating there just to keep warm. Recently, I noticed that a number of chairs were removed from one of the seating areas which obviously reduces places for anyone to sit.

It's a library and wish more things were available at this location, but still get excited to visit.

The staff is kind, courteous, knowledgeable, and attentive. I love that when I ask a question, I am brought immediately to the correct resource or other staff member who can assist me in my search.

the staff there are very friendly an know there stuff when it comes to where to find information on the past.I went to look up information on my house they lady was very helpfull an had all the information handy i needed

Taunton Public Library offers many activities for children. The staff is very helpful and courteous.

Thank goodness Taunton has recognized the value of its public library even during, maybe especially during, hard times. The staff is excellent.

The Taunton library is one of the older buildings in the downtown area. Located behind the new courthouse, it is open most nights until 8 pm. They do a good job of getting hold items to you and often times instead of digging around the stacks, I will put a few books on hold and get them as they call. They also have several computers available for use. The children's room has also got a great selection for kids and there are special programs periodically

Built in 1903 by Albert Ross from a Grant from Andrew Carnegie Taunton Library has it all.It houses thousands of books as well as provides Electronic Titles for reading. Its media center provides computers ,micro fiche and a comprehensive genealogy department and history center for all .The libraray hosts seminars and activities for all ages.I personally attended a seminar on paranormal activity here and I heard EVP recordings from the library proving Ghostly voices heard in the 4th floor Stacks and Eerie voices coming from the hallway downstairs between the Elevator and the children's room.
