This park is courtesy of The Trustees of Reservations -- although many people just assume it is owned and maintained by the Town of Walpole. It plays an important role in the surrounding neighborhoods, offering open space and paths and green grass, a place to walk or walk your dog, for kids to play, and even a gazebo for little Shakespeare plays and such. If you are local, please support it. It is not a destination park, such as the larger reservations also owned by The Trustees.

It's a nice sized park with a few ponds and streams. Plenty of benches to sit on if you need to sit and take a rest. There is a playground if you have small children and also a large field. This park holds a very precious memory to me since it is where my husband and I fell in love!

This park is great for an afternoon walk, I have often gone here to walk during my lunch hour it is convenient and not crowded. My wife and I also once took our daughter here for a picnic on a weekend and it was an enjoyable time as well. There are picnic tables, a playground, basketball and tennis courts as well. If you are in the area and are looking for somewhere for a great family day give it a try.

I enjoy going to Bird Park but don't go as often as I might like because I get tired of being harassed by dogs off their leashes and their owners harassing me. I like dogs and don't mind strange ones when leashed but I do get tired of unleashed dogs whose owners swear to me that their dog won't bite me, my young son, etc. and them not understanding my reluctance to take that chance. I get tired of that type of experience when there is a long-standing leash law. All that aside, the park itself is gorgeous with great paths, some very old trees and a great playground that was recently re-done. I think there are plans for a butterfly garden in the near future, as well.

Having driven past this park for decades and thinking it looked nice, we never went in until we adopted a dog and needed nice places to walk her. And it is nice, very nice. There are dirt paths paved paths, stone paths and wide open spaces and wooded spaces.On these paths are people walking and talking, kids riding bikes, and people walking dogs. Nice people walking nice dogs. Poo bags are provided at a couple of locations in case you don't have your own, but there is no water supply except the streams. Most people seem to clean up after their dogs. There are benches and trees with plaques saying they were memorial gifts, which lends special feeling of community, even though we've never seen anyone there whom we know.Owned by the Trustees of Reservations, the park is well cared for. There is a much used children's playground, but the tennis courts aren't anything but a fenced space in which they once were. Our only caveat is the geese. As with almost everywhere now, geese winter over, so are always there. Our dog pretty much ignores them, but their poo is all over the place, and it's big. Our dog loves going in the streams, which we allow, but we keep her out of the ponds, which look pretty nasty, which is a shame.

We took a nice long walk in this park and it was a very relaxing place to spend time. It was quiet and there weren't many people there.

Beautifully clean and well kept park for everyone of every age. Tennis, walking, running, dog walking, music, family events, biking, playground. And you can access the park from any direction.

good walking trails. Huge park, plenty of open grassy areas. Watch out for Goose droppings though...

We were in the area this last [long] weekend for a wedding and just wanted someplace "pretty" to walk around ... a botanical garden or nice park ... that didn't require driving into Boston. Found this by asking the Garmin. Since it was just down the road a piece, we checked it out and were glad we did! A delightful place to just walk through woods and enjoy the sounds and peace. If I'm ever in the area again with time to kill, I can see taking a book over there and relaxing. Wouldn't mind being their for rhododendron season to walk the rhody trail! The perfect weather this last weekenc (Aug 17th) didn't hurt our impression, of course!!Only negative --- what looked a lot like poison ivy along some of the unpaved paths requiring diligence if walking a dog or small child!

They have very well maintained sidewalks and playground. One of their lawns had bird or dog poop, so be careful. Actually, we did not see any birds, at all. But the payground has interesting activities for toddlers. Parking is free. Pine trees provide shade.

Bird Park is a great place for walking. Many trails run throughout the park. It is very well kept and often has events fun for the whole family. There is a great playground for the kids and a closed in area with little bikes for the kids to ride.The only draw back is the tennis courts. They really need to be repaved.If you are looking for a quiet place to walk, or an outing with your young kids, its worth a look.

This park is beautifully landscaped, and has many inter-winding trails as well as open meadows. There is also a great playground that she enjoyed immensely. Very fun for my 3 year old.

As a frequent visitor, I love this park. There is plenty of green space so it doesn't feel crowded. Lots of different trails through open fields and wooded areas. There is two small ponds with geese, turtles and ducks. Plenty of park benches to rest and soak in the sunshine. Huge open field for frisbee, football or soccer. easy access points on all sides of the park, some with parking lots. A few picnic table areas but no bbq-ing. which is a good thing in my opinion. Wheel chair and stroller accessibility could be a little better. Some of the walkways are in need of repair and are uneven but they are marked so you don't injure yourself. They have several events each summer for the community. Such as concerts, a play and ice cream social. The grounds are well cared for and the keeper is helpful and friendly. There are plenty of doggie bag dispensers so dog owners can pick up after their dogs. Very little trash or litter and makes for a very enjoyable walk. great playground for little kids. play structure and several sets of swings and monkey bars. walkers are also friendly and say hello. Never have felt unsafe in this park. I have visited in all seasons. late spring, summer and fall are great with the flowering trees, green grass and then fall foliage. Winter and early spring are little bit harder to get around. Certain areas of the walkway have poor drainage due to snow melt and most walkways remain blocked by snow. Now if you own snow shoes, its a different story. Plenty of space to trek around in snow shoes or cross country skies. Some smaller hills for added challenge. seasonal porta-potty, otherwise no facilities or restrooms. Great park for locals!

Bird Park is such a great place. Olmstead-inspired, this lovely park is welcoming to all who want to enjoy the meandering paths, rolling vistas, and majestic trees. Bring a blanket, a book, a frisbee, the dog, and a picnic lunch, So relaxing! Skip a trip to the mall and enjoy your weekend at this lovely respite from the busy world.

Bird Park has everything you could want in a park: a new children's playground, paved and unpaved walking trails, a stage for seasonal performances, little streams and ponds, and plenty of open space. I've heard they're also thinking about adding a space for dogs to go unleashed. The Trustees of Reservation have a gem here.
